Buckeyes Carry-On Team Trophy for Flight Back from Tucson – Ohio State Buckeyes

TUCSON, Ariz. – Ohio State Women’s Golf captured its 99th tournament team title in program history, besting the field by five strokes at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational. The championship marks Ohio State’s second this season and the 44th under the guidance of 24-year head coach Therese Hession.
Jan Chanpalangsri and Katja Pogacar each posted 54-hole totals of 211, dropping five shots under par. The Buckeye pair both earned a share of fourth place overall in the large 103-player field. Chanpalangsri finished as the top OSU performer for the fourth time of her senior campaign and in the top two for the seventh of eight events played. The senior captain has racked up three top-5, four top-10 and 6 top-25 finishes in 2014-15. Pogacar has been consistently among the top players, placing in the top-25 in five of seven tournaments played.
Pogacar remained near the top of the leaderboard throughout the competition, recording scores of 71-68-72. Chanpalangsri, meanwhile, rebounded from an opening-round 75 to find the 60s in the next two rounds (69-67).
Jessica Porvasnik joined her aforementioned teammates in the top-20, grabbing a piece of the 20th slot at 1-over. The reigning Big Ten Player of the Year rattled off rounds of 71-73-73. Claudia Lim, Chanpalangsri’s co-captaincy partner, contributed tallies of 73 in the first and third rounds to the team tally. She registered a 76 in between and tied for 45th place at 6-over (73-76-73)
Rio Watanabe, representing the Scarlet & Gray as an individual, placed T-45th. She was steady throughout, going 74-74-73. Zoe-Beth Brake matched Lim’s two contributions to the team total, putting up back-to-back 73s on Day One.
