Ohio State in First after Men’s Competition at 2015 NCAA Fencing Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio State fencing team completed men’s competition in first place after the second day of the 2015 NCAA Fencing Championships. Lewis Weiss tied for third, claiming a bronze medal in men’s epee.
Weiss entered the semifinals for men’s epee with a second place finish, tallying 18 victories. He fell in an overtime thriller, 14-13, to Princeton’s Jack Hudson, ending the day tied for third. Teammate Marc-Antoine Blais Belanger finished in sixth place, accumulating 13 victories at the end of competition.
Stanislov Sudilovsky gathered 15 victories to claim seventh place after round-robin competition. Fellow freshman Maximilian Chastanet claimed the No. 8 spot with a total of 14 victories in his national championship debut.
For men’s sabre, Frederick Koch finished in tenth with 13 victories, while Fares Arfa accumulated 11 victories for a 13th place finish.
Ohio State finished the day in first place with 84 victories, followed closely by Columbia, who tallied 81 victories. Women’s competition begins tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in French Field House for first three rounds. Rounds four and five will be on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. in French Field House, while semifinal and championship bouts will begin at 1:30 p.m. in St. John Arena.
