Ohio State Announces 2015 Huntington Bucks Go Pro Class – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Ohio State Department of Athletics announced the 2015 Huntington Bucks Go Pro class on Wednesday. Comprised of 25 student-athletes representing 16 different sports, the group will be interning within the athletics department throughout the summer.
The third-year internship program strives to provide student-athletes valuable experience working within a university athletics department, while assisting them in their desired career paths. The student-athletes will be working a minimum of 100 hours and will be paid $1,500 for their duties.
Associate athletics director Janine Oman, who is heading up the program, said there are five goals for internship:
1. Provide the student-athletes with meaningful work experience in a professional setting;
2. Help enhance student-athletes’ resumes;
3. Teach student-athletes how to develop a network of colleagues;
4. Expand our student-athletes’ reference beyond their professors and coaches, and
5. Help our student-athletes be better prepared for life after college and represent Ohio State with class in their professional endeavors.
Andrew Appleby, a sophomore on the men’s swimming and diving team, is majoring in accounting with an economics minor. He will be interning with the ticket office.
“Bucks Go Pro is an exceptional opportunity, combining professional development courses with practical work experience,” Appleby said. “I hope to meet like-minded, hardworking peers and grow as a business professional while learning more about the corporate world.”
Alexis Degler, a sophomore on the women’s soccer team, is majoring in strategic communications with a marking minor and will be interning in the development office.
“I’m excited to work with the development department because it will take me out of my comfort zone and introduce me to a network of very successful people who I can interact with and learn from,” Degler said.
The Class of 2015 includes: Rachel Abrams (women’s gymnastics; information technology), Andrew Appleby (men’s swimming and diving; ticket office), Alex Bayne (softball; student-athlete support services), LaMar Bruton (track and field; student life), Michelle Burns (women’s gymnastics; life sports), Kendall Curtis (women’s hockey; creative services), Craig Dalrymple (men’s hockey; facilities), Jake Dastrup (men’s gymnastics; The Blackwell), Alexis Degler (women’s soccer; development), Olivia DiCarlantonio (women’s lacrosse; women’s lacrosse), Blake Doerring (men’s hockey; event management), Kevin Duffy (men’s lacrosse; Schottenstein Center), Nick Elswick (track & field/cross country; camps), John Holman (football; student life), Gordie Koerber (men’s lacrosse; sport administration), Katy Luchanksy (women’s swimming and diving; trademark and licensing), Zach Mason (men’s soccer; coaching), Cheyenne Meek (women’s swimming and diving; athletics communications), Nicole Miyashiro (women’s soccer; human resources), Allie Ogilvie (women’s lacrosse; Recreation & Physical Activity Center), Yianni Sarris (men’s soccer; compliance), MaryClare Stannard (rowing; business office), Nick Tavanello (wrestling; golf course), Julia Toro (synchronized swimming; video services).
