COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team defeated Southeast Missouri State, 195.650-192.475, Saturday afternoon in St. John Arena. Sarah Grady, the Buckeyes’ lone senior, was honored post-meet after her final regular-season meet in St. John Arena.
The Buckeyes began the meet on vault, tallying a 49.000-48.500 win. Stefanie Merkle paced Ohio State and tied her career-high 9.850 to win the event while Taylor Harrison notched a 9.825 to tie for second.
Ohio State moved to uneven bars in the second rotation, winning the event with a 48.675. Merkle again led the Buckeyes, posting a meet-high 9.825 in her first collegiate bars routine, while Rachel Abrams and Alexis Mattern each tallied a 9.750 to tie for third.
After two rotations, Ohio State held a 97.675-97.100 lead over the Redhawks.
The Buckeyes then notched a 48.825 on balance beam in the third rotation. Mattern and Sarah Grady each tallied a 9.800 to tie for the event title.
Ohio State concluded the meet with a 49.150 on floor exercise. Merkle and Mattern tied for first with a 9.875.
Merkle posted a team season high and career-best 39.325 to win the all-around while Mattern finished second with a 39.200 and Harrison took third at 38.225.
The Buckeyes travel to Denver for a tri-meet with the Pioneers and Air Force at 8 p.m. ET March 7.
