- This matchup marks the third meeting all-time between Ohio State and Louisiana Tech. Ohio State is now 1-2 in the series
- Both previous meetings were in postseason play as the Buckeyes fell 79-67 in the first round of the 1985 NCAA Tournament and defeated the Bulldogs 79-66 in the semifinals of the 1986 National Invitation Tournament
