COLUMBUS, Ohio-Thad Matta and the Ohio State men’s basketball program inked a pair of recruits from the state of Ohio Wednesday.
Derek Funderburk, a 6-foot-9-inch forward from Lakewood and Micah Potter, a 6-9 center from Mentor, signed with Ohio State and will join the program for the 2016-17 season
Funderburk played at St. Edward High School before transferring to Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, Virginia) for his senior season. Potter is playing his senior year at Montverde (Florida) Academy after playing for three years at Mentor High School.
“These two signees bring versatility, size and rebounding to our program,” Matta said. “ With Micah we get a big who can play with his back to the basket as well as stretch the defense and face-up. With Derek we are getting an athletic, high energy guy who can impact both ends of the floor. I’m excited to have two high quality kids who have a deep appreciation for The Ohio State University.”
