CHICAGO, Ill. — The Ohio State University women’s golf team placed 10th in the 2015 Windy City Collegiate, concluding the 54-hole event at 13-over (877). Redshirt sophomore Rio Watanabe tied for 28th place overall, the highest of all Buckeyes. It marks the second time in three Fall tournaments she has paced Ohio State.
Watanabe opened the event shooting 2-under on Day One, posting rounds of 72-70. She then ended her trip to Chicago with a 75 on Tuesday and piece of 28th place in the 83-player field. Watanabe has contributed to the team tally in all nine rounds this season.
Katja Pogacar and Zoe-Beth Brake were two and three strokes back, respectively from Watanabe. Pogacar was consistent throughout, registering rounds of 73-72-74 (+3) to tie for 39th. Brake sandwiched a second-round 70 with a pair of 75’s to grab her piece of 41st place at 4-over (220).
Freshman Jaclyn Lee, playing as an individual, was the best Par 3 performer in the tournament, recording an overall 4-under tally on Par 3’s. Much of that success came via her team-high 12 birdies, tied for seventh overall. For the tournament, Lee tied for 51st place at 7-over (223) after a final-round 79.
Jessica Porvasnik and Niki Schroeder rounded out the Buckeye lineup, both tying for 55th at 8-over (224). While Porvasnik improved after an opening-round 77, Schroeder tallied a 77 on the final day.
