MADISON, Wisc.— After sweeping its season-opening series last weekend, Ohio State lost its first contest of the season on Saturday to No. 3 Wisconin, 7-0.
The Badgers started off the afternoon with a goal from Sam Cogan on a scrum right in front of the net. Not even 25 seconds later Emily Clark found the back of the net to put Wisconsin up 2-0 just 3:31 into the game. Annie Pankowski would score a short-handed goal later in the period to increase her team’s lead to 3-0.
In the second the Badgers would score their fourth goal, also coming from Clark, to extend their lead to 4-0. Wisconsin managed 21 shots in the second period, by far the most the Buckeyes have faced in a period this season. Stacy Danczak blocked 20 of the 21 shots that came her way in the second stanza.
Wisconsin added three more goals in the third period for a total of seven on the day. All three goals came on the power play for the Badgers.
Ohio State will take the ice tomorrow, Sunday, afternoon again at 3:07 ET. The game will be shown on the Big Ten Network.
