COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team will begin the 2015 season Saturday as it hosts the Ohio State Invitational in McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The meet will feature participants from Ohio State, Michigan, Miami University and Wright State.
The meet, which is the first of two home events for the Scarlet and Gray this season, will start with the technical competition at 10:45 a.m. followed by the routine event at 2 p.m.
Competing in the solo routine for the Buckeyes on Saturday will be Emma Baranski, Elizabeth Davidson and Alexa Aton. Baranski and Davidson each had stellar freshman campaigns that saw them both earn All-American Honors at US Collegiate Championships.
In duets, sophomore All-American Lorraine Hack will pair with freshman Alyssa Hoying on Saturday. Hoying won the individual high point award at last year’s US Senior Nationals. Senior Cory Justice and freshman Shea Ramsey will form an entry while seniors Samantha Golomb and Emily Muma will also make a pair.
The Buckeyes will have three groups competing in the trio routine. Hoying and Hack will be joined by freshman Monica Velazquez-Stiak for one trio. Senior three-time All-American Khadija Zanotto joins Baranski and Davidson, while sophomores Tori Baron, Sarah House and Caroline Jimenez will make the final group.
Ohio State is coming off a 2014 season that saw it notch six first-place and two second-place finishes. Most notably, the Buckeyes captured the program’s first U.S. Senior National Championship since 2011 in Oro Valley, Ariz.
