ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Ohio State Women’s Golf finished third at the inaugural East & West Match Play Challenge. The Buckeyes topped Wisconsin, 3-2, on the final day to split a pair of matches after winning the stroke play qualifying rounds.
For the second straight day Katja Pogacar and Rio Watanabe arose victorious in their individual matches. Jessica Porvasnik joined them against the Badgers, giving Ohio State a 3-2 triumph. Pogacar captured her win 4 & 3 while Porvasnik and Watanabe were both 3 & 2 victors.
Pogacar took a lead on the second hole and never looked back, leading by as many as six holes over Kim Dinh. Porvasnik never trailed either, pulling ahead on Hole 3 before closing the door on the 16th. Watanabe lead the entire way as well, but had a tougher battle with Gabby Curtis early on before ultimately extinguishing her in 16 holes, too.
In addition, Lina Aguillon was competing in the individual match play bracket, and came out as champion. She bested Michigan’s Megan Kim, 1 UP, to bring home the hardware.
