No. 24 Ohio State Defeats Ball State on Senior Day with Season-High 196.600 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Paced by strong efforts from seniors Victoria Aepli, Alex DeLuca, Sarah Miller and Melanie Shaffer, the No. 24 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team notched a season best team score when it defeated Ball State, 196.600-192.350, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in St. John Arena. The 196.600 team score was the eighth-highest in program history.
Ohio State opened the meet on vault, posting a season-high 49.200 to win the event. The Buckeyes posted the top five scores on the event, led by Miller’s career-high tying 9.950. Following Miller, Tenille Funches notched a career-best 9.900 to take second and Shaffer tallied a 9.825 to finish third.
The Buckeyes took uneven bars in the second rotation with a 48.950. Shaffer, Samantha Kent and Aepli each tied for first on the event with a 9.900.
On balance beam in the third rotation, Ohio State posted a 49.050. Shaffer won the event with a 9.875 while Miller finished second at 9.850.
The Buckeyes closed out the meet on floor exercise with a season-best 49.400. DeLuca won the event with a career-high 9.925 while Shaffer and Miller tied for second at 9.900.
Shaffer won the all-around with a 39.350 while Aepli finished second with a career-best 39.200.
The Buckeyes travel to East Lansing for the Michigan State Quad at 2 p.m. next Saturday. The meet will be televised on BTN.
