No. 19 Ohio State Tallies a 194.775 Against No. 16 Rutgers – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 19 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 16 Rutgers, 195.275-194.775, Sunday afternoon in St. John Arena.
Ohio State started the meet on vault, tallying a 48.700 team score on the event. Sarah Miller led the Buckeyes with a 9.875 to take the event title while Jaine VanPutten and Melanie Shaffer each posted a 9.750.
The Buckeyes moved to uneven bars in the second rotation and posted a 48.225. Victoria Aepli won the event and tied her career-high 9.875 while Tenille Funches posted a second-place finish at 9.825. Ohio State trailed the Scarlet Knights, 97.575-96.925, after two rotations.
Ohio State then moved to vault and tallied a 48.775 to win the event. Aepli tied another career high with a 9.850 to tie for the event title while Sarah Grady posted a 9.775 to tie for third.
The Buckeyes wrapped up the meet on floor exercise and recorded a 49.075 to win the event. Shaffer posted a 9.925 to tie for the event title while Miller tallied a 9.850 to take third.
Shaffer finished third in the all-around with a 38.425.
The Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to face Michigan at 4 p.m. Saturday.
