ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 23 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team posted a season-high team score in a 197.325-195.200 defeat at No. 5 Michigan Saturday afternoon.
Ohio State opened the meet on uneven bars, posting a season-high 49.075. Tenille Funches and Melanie Shaffer each posted a 9.850 to tie for fourth on the event.
The Buckeyes moved to vault in the second rotation, tying their season-high 48.950. Sarah Miller posted a 9.825 to pace Ohio State.
At the midway point, Ohio State trailed, 98.575-98.025.
In the third rotation, the Buckeyes notched a 48.775 on floor exercise. Shaffer led Ohio State with a 9.800 while Alex DeLuca tallied a 9.775.
Ohio State closed the meet on balance beam, posting a 48.400. Miller led Ohio State with a 9.850 while Victoria Aepli earned a 9.825.
Shaffer tallied a 38.625 as Ohio State’s lone all-around competitor.
The Buckeyes return home to face Penn State at 4 p.m. Saturday.
