Athletes of the Week
Logan Stieber, a redshirt sophomore on the Ohio State wrestling team, defended his 133-pound title at the 2013 NCAA Championships Saturday night and finished the season undefeated with a 27-0 record. In the final, Stieber defeated Tony Ramos of Iowa, 7-4, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. In five meetings vs. Ramos, Stieber is 5-0, including 2-0 in 2013. In the previous meeting this season, Stieber narrowly defeated Ramos, 3-1, in the Big Ten championship final March 10. Saturday evening, Stieber, the No. 1 seed, won by decision for just the third time in 2013 with the 7-4 victory. For the year, 85 percent of Stieber’s matches were bonus point victories, including a team-leading 14 falls and seven technical falls, as well as two major decisions.
During the second day of competition at the NCAA Championshipsin San Antonio, Texas, senior fencer Marco Canevari advanced to the championships bouts and defeatedJonathan Yergler of Princeton to bring home the individual titlefor the Buckeyes. At the 2012 NCAA Championships, Canevari tied forthird place after falling to eventual champion Yergler 15-10. Thisyear, the Milano, Italy native defeated Yergler, the 2012 nationalchampion, 15 touches to nine to garner the individual nationalchampion title in men’s epee. Women’s gymnastics junior Sarah Miller and senior Aly Marohn each posted a 9.900 to tie for the Big Ten title onbalance beam at the Big Ten Championships Saturday in East Lansing,Mich. The two All-Big Ten selections become the first Buckeyegymnasts to win a Big Ten individual title since Lindsey Vagedeswon vault and beam in 1999.
Baseball (15-6, 3-0 Big Ten)

Ohio State opened its Big Ten slate with a 10-1 win over PurdueFriday evening at Alexander Field.
Brad Hallberg finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI and tworuns scored while Tim Wetzel went 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI. Jaron Long picked up the win for the Buckeyes, allowing oneearned run on five hits while striking out four over 8.0 inningspitched. The right-hander threw 98 pitches, 70 strikes, and didn’twalk a batter.
Wetzel’s triple in the sixth was his seventh extra-base hit of theseason, tying his total from last season.
Joe Ciamacco set a career high with three walks against theBoilermakers.
Ohio State took both games of a doubleheader from Purdue to sweepthe series against the Boilermakers Saturday at Alexander Field.The Buckeyes won the first game, 8-3, before picking up a 7-0victory in the nightcap.
Brad Goldberg picked up the win for the Buckeyes to move to 3-0on the season, allowing one earned run on two hits while strikingout four over five innings. Ryan Riga pitched the final four frames to earn his firstcareer save.
Kirby Pellant went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBIwhile Ryan Cypret, Jacob Bosiokovic and Hallberg each tallied three hits for theBuckeyes.
Trace Dempsey came on in the ninth to replace King, who tossedeight shutout frames, allowing three hits while striking out acareer-high eight Boilermakers. Dempsey then tossed a perfect ninthas the Buckeyes earned the series sweep.
Porter finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI while Wetzel,Hallberg and Ciamacco each had two-hit games.
Ohio State tallied a season-high 17 hits in the first game Saturdaywhile the four hits for Pellant in Game 1 marked a careerhigh.
Ohio State starting pitchers allowed just two earned runs on 21.0innings pitched against the Boilermakers.
The Buckeyes take on Toledo at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Nick Swisher Fieldat Bill Davis Stadium.
Men’s Basketball (28-7)

Ohio State advanced to its fourth-consecutive Sweet 16,defeating Iowa State, 78-75, Sunday afternoon at the University ofDayton Arena.
Ohio State will play Arizona at the Staples Center in Los AngelesThursday, March 28 in the West Regional Semifinal of the 2013 NCAATournament.
Three players scored in double figures for Ohio State: Deshaun Thomas (22 points), Aaron Craft (18) and LaQuinton Ross (17).
With 22 points, Thomas moved to No. 12 on the all-time scoring listat Ohio State (1,587 total points), passing Terence Dials (1,566points) and Allan Hornyak (1,572 points). He needs 10 points tosurpass Robin Freeman (1,597 points).
Thomas is tied for third on Ohio State’s all-time NCAA tournamentscoring list with William Buford at 162 points, passing John Havlicek(156).
With 18 points Sunday, Craft has scored in double figures 17 gamesthis season.
With six assists against the Cyclones, Craft is No. 2 on theall-time at Ohio State with 523. He needs 57 assists to pass JamarButler for the No. 1 spot.
After not making an appearance in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, Rosscontributed with 24 points and 10 rebounds in two games.
Sam Thompson had career highs with 20 points and 10 rebounds onFriday night, part of a dominating performance by Ohio State’sfront line, and the Buckeyes ran away to a 95-70 victory over Ionain the second round of the West Regional.
Four players scored in double figures for Ohio State: Thomas (24points), Thompson (20), Lenzelle Smith, Jr. (12) and Evan Ravenel (11). The last time Ohio State had two playerswith 20 points in a game: Thomas (26) and Jared Sullinger (23) vs. Cincinnati on March 22, 2012.
Ohio State scored a season-high 95 points (previous high 91 vs.Missouri-Kansas City), fourth most by an OSU team in an NCAAtournament game. The team also tied a season best with 25 assists,the second most by a Buckeye team in a tournament game.
Craft and Shannon Scott combined for 17 assists, eight rebounds, sixsteals and only four turnovers.
Thompson scored a career-high 20 points, and collected acareer-high 10 rebounds, passing 150 for his career (159). He alsoshot 8-of-8 at the free throw, career highs in both makes andattempts.
Scott tied a career high with 10 assists, second most in an NCAAtournament game for a Buckeye player.
Trey McDonald scored a career-high five points and Ravenel tieda career-high with three blocks.
Fencing

Ohio State finished in fourth place Sunday after four days ofcompetition at the NCAA Championships in San Antonio, Texas. TheBuckeyes extended their streak of Top 5 finishes to 12 years andcombined for 146 victories and 993 touches scored between the menand women.
Senior Marco Canevari marked the Scarlet and Gray’s single individualchampion title by securing the gold medal in men’s epeeFriday.
Mona Shaito led the Buckeyes by finishing the pool rounds infourth place, advancing to the semifinals bouts as one of the Top 4in the weapon. She lost to eventual champion Lee Kiefer of NotreDame 15-5 to finish tied for third.
Mona’s sister, Mai Shaito, finished her NCAA debut in 16th place after winningnine bouts and recording 78 touches scored.
Senior Katarzyna Dabrowa, 2012 women’s epee national champion,finished the pool rounds in sixth place, falling short of makingthe semifinals bouts.
In women’s sabre, Alison Miller proved strong for the Buckeyes. Ranked fifthafter the pool rounds were complete, the senior missed qualifyingfor the semifinal bouts by a small margin.
Overall, the Scarlet and Gray finished the 2013 NCAA Championshipswith 146 points to come in fourth place behind Penn State (163),Notre Dame (175), and Princeton (182). This marks Ohio State’s 12thconsecutive Top 5 finish at the championships and the finalcompetition of its 2012-2013 season.
Men’s Golf
Head Coach: Donnie Darr
Battling 30 mph winds and soggy conditions, the Ohio Statemen’s golf team finished seventh at the Seahawk IntercollegiateMonday with a 36-hole score of 618. The tournament was shorteneddue to inclement weather Sunday and the 12-team field finishedcompetition Monday on the par 72, 6,877-yard Country Club ofLandfall Nicklaus Golf Course.
Sophomore Boo Timko led the Buckeyes, finishing tied for 10th with a7-over 151 (75-76). Classmate Grant Weaver came in tied for 16th after recording scores of 77and 76 for a 9-over 153.
Up next, the Buckeyes return to Florida for the Gary KochInvitational in Tampa, Fla., Apr. 7-8.
Women’s Golf

No. 5 Men’s Gymnastics (6-6-1)

Ohio State fell to No. 2 Oklahoma, 441.250-426.750, Saturdaynight at McCasland Field House in Norman, Okla.
Ohio State posted a 74.35 on vault to win the event title. Redshirtsophomore Jeff Treleaven claimed his third consecutive individual eventtitle on vault with a career-high 15.45.
Four other Buckeyes claimed top three finishes as redshirt juniorMichael Newburger notched a 14.90 to place second on pommelhorse, sophomore Larry Mayer scored a 15.10 to place second on vault, juniorMisha Koudinov posted a season-high 15.00 to finish second onparallel bars and senior Blaize Monks notched a 14.95 to finish third on high bar.
The Buckeyes have a bye week before opening the postseason at theBig Ten Championships April 5-6 in the Sports Pavilion at theUniversity of Minnesota. The team and all-around competition willbe held on Friday while the individual championships will takeplace on Saturday. Competition is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET bothdays.
No. 20 Women’s Gymnastics

Ohio State posted a 195.950 for a fifth-place finish at the BigTen Championships Saturday at Jenison Field House. The Buckeyesfinished fifth at the championships behind Nebraska, Michigan,Minnesota and Illinois.
The Buckeyes began the meet on vault, posting a 48.750. Sarah Miller paced Ohio State with a 9.850 while Aly Marohn notched a 9.800.
Ohio State then moved to bars in the second rotation, tallying a48.925. Victoria Aepli scored a career-best 9.875 for a second-placefinish while Melanie Shaffer posted a 9.800.
The Buckeyes competed on beam in the third rotation, posting aseason-best 49.150 on the event for a first-place finish in theearly session. Miller and Marohn again led the Buckeyes, eachrecording a 9.900 to tie for the Big Ten title.
Ohio State concluded the meet on floor exercise, notching a 49.125to finish second on the event. Miller tallied a team-best 9.900 totie for third while Aepli and Shaffer each recorded a 9.850.
The Buckeyes will host an NCAA Regional at 6 p.m. April 6 in St.John Arena. Participants will be decided during a selection show onNCAA.com at 3 p.m. Monday.
Men’s Hockey (16-17-7)

Despite 41 saves from senior goalie Brady Hjelle, the Ohio State men’s hockey team lost to No.9-ranked Notre Dame, 3-1, in the CCHA tournament semifinalsSaturday afternoon in Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Ryan Dzingel ends the year as the team’s leading scorer with 38points. He was the co-leader as a freshman last season with 24points. He led the 2013 squad with 16 goals. He had career highsfor goals, assists and points this year. He had a point in 15 ofthe last 18 games.
Tanner Fritz was the team leader with 26 assists and rankedsecond with 37 points, all career highs. He had a point in 16 ofthe last 20 outings.
Hjelle’s .935 save percentage is the best for a Buckeye in a singleseason in program history, topping the .924 Caruso recorded in2004. Hjelle’s season goals-against average of 2.00 is thesecond-best in school history, behind only the 1.97 Dave Carusoposted in 2004.
Hjelle ends his career as the Buckeyes’ all-time leader in careersave percentage, with his .933 passing Jeff Maund’s mark of .921from 1998-99. Hjelle is second in goals-against average as aBuckeye, as his 2.08 is just .01 behind Dave Caruso (2003-06). Inhis four-year collegiate career, Hjelle had a 2.30 goals-againstaverage and .924 save percentage in 63 games played (56 starts). Hehad five career shutouts as a Buckeye to tie for fifth and his fourwhitewashes this season are tied for third in a single year.
Dzingel (38) and Fritz (37) had the most points for a Buckeye since2010 when Zac Dalpe had 45.
Sophomore Max McCormick had his nine-game scoring streak ended vs. theIrish. He was second on the team with 15 goals and third with 31points. Freshman defenseman Craig Dalrymple had his seven-game point streak ended. He ledthe squad’s rookies and blueliners with 14 assists and 17points.
Devon Krogh, the current team’s leader with 129 games played,skated in his final game as a Buckeye. The game was also the lastfor seniors Brandon Martell, Alex Carlson and Jeff Michael.
No. 8 Men’s Lacrosse (6-2, 1-1 ECAC)

Ohio State lost to No. 3 Notre Dame, 9-4, Wednesday inside theLoftus Sports Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
Greg Dutton had a season-high 10 saves in the game and now hasan 8.41 goals-against average this season.
Ohio State won 8-of-17 faceoffs, with senior Trey Wilkes winning 8-of-15. He has won 72-of-123 (.585) thisyear and entered the game leading the ECAC in faceoff winningpercentage.
Reigning ECAC Specialist of the Week Michael Italiano led Ohio State with five and has 19 in hislast four games combined.
Wilkes is first on the team with 25 groundballs, followed by juniorDarius Bowling with 24 and Italiano with 20.
Schuss extended his point streak to 52 (118-72-190) and his streakwith multiple points to 28 games, while King has a nine-game goalscoring streak (18) and is on a 13-game point streak(23-13-36).
Freshman Carter Brown, who was held scoreless for the first time in hisBuckeye career, is first with 11 assists and third with 21points.
With four goals and five points from senior Logan Schuss and 13 saves from junior goalie Dutton, Ohio Stateposted a 9-7 road win at Bellarmine in an ECAC Lacrosse League gameSaturday night in Louisville, Ky.
Schuss had four goals and an assist for five points in the victory,while freshman Brown scored twice and added an assist for athree-point game. Sophomore Jesse King had two assists in the victory. Ohio State won12-of-19 faceoffs, led by senior Wilkes with 10.
Ohio State had the edge in groundballs, 12-7, with Wilkes winning10 and freshman Kacy Kapinos winning both faceoffs he took. Ohio State won thegroundball battle, 25-15, led by four from Wilkes and freshmanRobby Haus. Ohio State had seven caused turnovers, with juniorJoe Meurer and senior Dominique Alexander each forcing two.
Schuss extended his point streak to 53 games, with a 122-73-195line in the stretch. He is first on the team with 20 goal and 30points this season and second with 10 assists. He has multiplepoints in each of his last 29 games.
Ohio State, wrapping up a stretch of three-consecutive road gamesin a week, will now host back-to-back ECAC Lacrosse Leaguecontests. The squad will host defending NCAA and league championLoyola at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Hobart at noon April 6. Both gamesare scheduled for Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Women’s Lacrosse (3-5, 0-1 ALC)

Ohio State fell to No. 2 Florida 13-7 Saturday afternoon atDizney Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
Katie Chase finished with a team-high three goals, whileKaila Gottlick helped pace the attack with two and goalieTori DeScenza had nine saves, including six in the firsthalf.
Ohio State continues ALC play with fourth-ranked Northwestern at6:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at Lakeside Field in Evanston in the firstof three BTN-televised contests this season. Mike Wolf and KaraKentz will call the conference showdown live on BTN. The Wildcatsare 7-1 on the season, up 2-0 in the ALC race and off until theyhost the Buckeyes next week.
Pistol

Ohio State scored a 6,209 to place fourth at the NationalIntercollegiate Pistol Championships held in Columbus, Ga., at FortBenning March 12-15.
The Buckeyes earned a third place finish in the Women’s NationalIntercollegiate Championship.
Ohio State junior Joe Totts was crowned the national individual champion instandard pistol with a 548. Junior Kim Hullings earned third placein both sport pistol (560) and women’s two-gun aggregate and sixthplace in women’s air pistol with a 370. Senior Blake Reburnadvanced to the finals competition in both free and air pistol,placing eighth and sixth respectively.
Reburn, Totts, junior A.J. Tourigny, sophomore Greyson McCaig, senior Jason Reineck, and Hullings earned All-American honors.
Softball (20-9, 2-1 Big Ten)

Ohio State defeated Indiana, 9-5, in game one of a three gameconference series at Buckeye Field Friday afternoon.
Offensively, Ohio State was led by junior Evelyn Carrillo, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI,while classmate Leesa Gresham was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a runscored.
Sophomore Caitlin Conrad was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while senior Megan Coletta posted a pair of hits, including a double and tworuns scored. Overall, Ohio State outhit the Hoosiers, 14-8.
In the circle, redshirt junior Melanie Nichols improved to 3-1 overall, throwing two innings,allowing two runs on one hit with a walk, while sophomore Olivia O’Reilly posted her first career save, working the finaltwo innings, allowing no runs or hits with one strikeout.
Ohio State softball team posted its first Big Ten series win of theseason after splitting a doubleheader against Indiana Saturdayafternoon at Buckeye Field.
In the first game, Gresham was 2-for-5 with a double and runscored, while sophomore Shelby Pickett was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Coletta went 2-for-4with a double and run scored.
Ohio State notched 11 hits on eight runs against Indiana in gametwo, while Alex DiDomenico limited the IU bats to two runs on three hitsto improve to 8-3 overall in 2013 as Ohio State won 8-2 to wrap upthe opening weekend at Buckeye Field.
Offensively, Ohio State was led by Taylor Watkins, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles,three runs scored and a season-high four RBI. Gresham was 2-for-4with a double and two RBI, while Pickett went 2-for-3 at the platewith a run scored.
Ohio State hits the road for its first Big Ten trip with athree-game series at Purdue March 29-31 in West Lafayette, Ind.Game two Saturday will be televised live on BTN.
Men’s Swimming

Women’s Swimming

Behind All-American performances from sophomore diver Cheyenne Cousineau and senior swimmer Shannon Draves, the Ohio State women’s swimming and diving teamrounded out the 2013 NCAA Championships Saturday in28th-place.
Representing the OSU diving unit, Cousineau did not disappoint inher signature event, the 10-meter diving platform. The Temperance,Mich. native, qualified for the A-Final in prelims with a score of300.96. Cousineau went on to conclude the evening in the same spotafter posting a finals score of 298.70.
In swimming action, Draves earned her second-consecutive trip tothe consolation finals of the 200 butterfly after recording a timeof 1:55.80 in the preliminary round of competition. A native ofGilbertsville, Pa., Draves ended her illustrious Buckeye careerwith a 12th-place finish in 1:56.27, earning honorable mentionAll-America recognition in the process.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the contingent of Michelle Williams, Alex Norris, Annie Jongekrijg and Phoebe Cater placed just inside the Top 20 after dropping aseason-best time of 3:18.41 in prelims.
The relay event wrapped a busy day of competition for Norris whoalso posted a time of 16:24.10 in the 1650 freestyle for a33rd-place showing.
Other individuals representing Ohio State on the final day ofcompetition were seniors Emily Creran and Kelsey Moran.
In preliminary competition of the 200 backstroke, Creran touched in1:54.39 for a 19th-place finish, while Moran earned 40th with atime of 1:56.65.
Synchronized Swimming

Tallying a total of 78 points, the Ohio State synchronizedswimming team finished second in the finals competition of the 2013U.S. Collegiate Championships Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Buckeyes were awarded three silver medals in the event.Julia Gaylard notched a second-place finish in her B Figuresroutine Friday, while junior Yuliya Maryanko was awarded second-place in the solocompetition Saturday with a score of 87.2375.
The Scarlet Team, comprised of Chelsea Aton, Kayley Colville, Katie LaBounty, Maryanko, Lauren Nicholson, Paige Ramsey, Katie Spada and Khadija Zanotto, collected a silver medal with a score of89.3625.
Ohio State will compete in its last event of the season inGreensboro, N.C., April 10.
No. 5 Men’s Tennis (18-2, 3-0 Big Ten)

Ohio State defeated Louisville, 6-1, Tuesday night at theVarsity Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
The Buckeyes started the match vs. Louisville the same way 17 oftheir 18 matches have begun, with the doubles win and a 1-0 leadentering singles play. First off the court for Ohio State was the16th-ranked duo of Peter Kobelt and Connor Smith with an 8-3 victory over Alex Gornet and SebastianStiefelmeyer on court No. 1.
At No. 2 doubles, the 28th-ranked pair of Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen won 8-3 against Albert Wagner and VanDamrongsri. With the doubles point secured, the No. 51-rankedtandem of Blaz Rola and Kevin Metka completed the doubles shutout with an 8-3 defeat ofAustin Siegel and Jeffrey Brown.
Rola won 6-0, 6-3 over Stiefelmeyer, while Van Engelen earned a6-2, 6-4 victory over Michael Lippens. The third singles victory,representing the fourth and match-clinching point came from a 6-2,6-2 victory by McCarthy. Smith, ranked 37th in the nation, was thenext victorious Buckeye, defeating Siegel 6-4, 6-1. Constantin Christ then earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory against LuisElizondo on court No. 6.
Ohio State beat Purdue, 7-0, Friday night at the Varsity TennisCenter in Columbus, Ohio.
Freshman Constantin Christ clinched the victory for the Scarlet and Grayat No. 6 singles. Christ needed just two sets to defeat ArthurDorbradin, 6-1, 6-0.
The two other victories needed to reach four points came from winsat Nos. 4 and 5 singles. Connor Smith surrendered just two points en route to a 6-0, 6-2victory over Evan Hawkins on court four. In fifth singles Chris Diaz was a 6-2, 6-1 winner vs. Mateus Silva.
With wins on all three courts, the Buckeyes captured the doublespoint for the 18th time this season.
Ohio State improved its home win streak to 163 matches during thecourse of 10 years after it defeated Indiana, 7-0, Sunday afternoonin the Varsity Tennis Center.
The match-winning point was earned by Connor Smith, ranked 37th, on court No. 5. The senior fromTampa, Fla., defeated Dimitrije Tasic 6-1, 6-4. The additionalsingles victories needed to reach four points came first fromDevin McCarthy with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Isade Juneau andHunter Callahan, who beat Chris Essick 6-4, 6-1.
The Buckeyes won the doubles point for the 19th time this season.Each doubles team won their respective matches by an 8-6score.
Ohio State will travel to Lincoln, Neb., where the Buckeyes andCornhuskers will commence at 4 p.m. March 29.
Women’s Tennis (8-7, 1-2 Big Ten)

Ohio State began its weekend of Big Ten competition Fridayagainst No. 21-ranked Purdue (10-1 Big Ten) in West Lafayette, Ind.The Boilermakers claimed the doubles decision and four singlesmatches in straight sets to prevail over the Buckeyes, 5-2.
The Buckeye tandem of Noelle Malley and Kara Cecil wrapped up doubles competition on court three with a9-7 win over Lynda Xepoleas and Daniela Vidal, 9-7.
At the No. 1 doubles position, the No. 38-ranked Boilermaker duo ofMara Schmidt and Krisztina Kapitany defeated Grainne O’Neill and Kelsey Dieters, 8-6. Imogen Golder and Gisella Pere prevailedover seniors Fidan Manashirova and Gabby Steele, 8-6.
No. 53-ranked Dieters added the first point for the Buckeyes with a6-3, 6-3 victory over Lynda Xepoleas at the No. 1 singlesposition.
Manashirova topped Mara Schmidt, 7-5, 6-1, to claim her 19thsingles victory of the season.
Ohio State was downed by No. 38-ranked Indiana (12-5, 1-2 Big Ten),5-2, Sunday in Bloomington, Ind.
Manashirova and Steele rallied back from an early deficit on courtthree to prevail over Sophie Garre and Katie Klyczek in a doublestiebreaker, 9-8 (4).
The Buckeyes wrapped up the match with victories at the No. 1 and 4positions against the Hoosiers. No. 53-ranked Dieters recorded hersecond singles victory of the weekend with a win against Hureau,6-3, 7-5, to put the Buckeyes on the board. Redshirt senior Michael Hartfield and freshman Billy Stanley turned in performances to remember Saturdayafternoon at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational inNashville, Tenn.
Hartfield, in the first meet of his senior campaign, dominated thefield in the long jump, posting a stunning mark of 8.08m (26-6.25)to better his previous PR in the event by four inches. Theperformance ranks the Manchester, Conn., native No. 1 in Division Ithis season and third all-time in the OSU record book.
Meanwhile Stanley, competing in the first collegiate meet of hiscareer, broke George Hoover’s 12-year-old school record in thejavelin on his first attempt of the day, clearing 72.16m (236-9.00)for a first-place finish. The school-record mark by the South Park,Pa., native ranks No. 4 in Division I this season.
Adding to the Buckeyes’ list of impressive debuts Saturday wasfreshman Donovan Robertson, who opened his college career with a win inthe 110m hurdles and a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles.
Runner-up honors in the 100m went to sophomore Timothy Faust in a time of 10.61, while sophomore Nick Batcha placed fourth in 10.76.
Faust (21.35) and Batcha (21.42) finished second and third,respectively, in the 200m.
Sophomore Jackson Neff was second in the 2000m steeplechase (5:55.07),while freshman Jordan Redd finished third in 5:56.13.
Brajdic followed up his seventh-place effort in the 1500minvitational with a victory in the 3000m run in a personal-besttime of 8:21.10.
Senior Heath Nickles was the runner-up in the pole vault at 4.81m(15-9.25).
Ohio State `A’ raced to a second-place time of 3:11.55 in the4x400m relay.

Ohio State women’s track and field team enjoyed warm weatherand challenging competition Friday and Saturday at the UCFInvitational in Orlando, Fla.
Senior Ashlee Abraham (11.72) and junior Adenike Pedro (personal-best time of 11.74) finished second andthird, respectively in the 100m.
Ohio State finished 2-3-4 in the 100m hurdles. Sophomore Alexandria Johnson was the runner-up in 13.85 seconds, followedby freshman Alexis Franklin (14.06) and senior Christienne Linton (14.13).
Johnson, SoSo Walker, freshman Bri Neitzel and sophomore Janel Olberding combined for a third-place time of 3:42.28 inthe 4x400m relay. Star Athletics claimed first place in3:37.93.

No. 5 Wrestling (11-4)

LoganStieber, a redshirt sophomore on the Ohio State wrestling team,defended his 133-pound title at the 2013 NCAA ChampionshipsSaturday night and finished the season undefeated with a 27-0record. In the final, Stieber defeated Tony Ramos of Iowa, 7-4, atWells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
As a team, Ohio State concluded the championships in sixth placewith 59.5 points.
In five meetings vs. Ramos, Stieber is 5-0, including 2-0 in 2013.In the previous meeting this season, Stieber narrowly defeatedRamos, 3-1sv, in the Big Ten championship final March 10. Saturdayevening, Stieber, the No. 1 seed, won by decision for just thethird time in 2013 with the 7-4 victory. For the year, 85 percentof Stieber’s matches were bonus point victories, including ateam-leading 14 falls and seven technical falls, as well as twomajor decisions.
Two-time All-Americans Hunter Stieber and Nick Heflin, members of the Ohio State wrestling team, finishedthird and fifth, respectively, Saturday morning at the NCAAchampionships at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
After dropping his semifinal bout to Edinboro’s Mitchell Port, 7-6,Stieber, the No. 1 seed, answered with back-to-back wins vs. No. 11Michael Nevinger of Cornell and the Citadel’s and sixth-seedUndrakhb Khishignyam. Stieber concludes the season with a 36-1record and a team-leading 13 major decisions.
Heflin, the eighth seed, concluded the 2013 season facing familiarcompetition in the Big Ten’s Logan Storley of Minnesota and MichaelEvans of Iowa.
In the match Saturday, the Golden Gopher was able to secure a 3-2win to send Heflin to the fifth-place bout vs. Evans. In theirfirst meeting since Jan. 4 in Iowa City, when Evans beat Heflin,9-4sv, Heflin pulled off the upset, pinning Evans in 2:10. Heflinfinishes the season with a 20-7 overall record.
No. 8 Men’s Volleyball (15-5, 7-3 MIVA)

Ohio State dropped a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21) match at MIVArival Ball State Friday night in Muncie, Ind.
Senior Grayson Overman led the squad with five blocks (1s, 4a) andadded seven kills. Redshirt sophomore Andrew Lutz totaled 11 kills, while sophomore libero Brennan Anderson finished with a match-high 12 digs.
Ohio State traveled to MIVA rival IPFW and fell to the Mastodons,3-2 (28-26, 17-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9), Saturday night in FortWayne.
Ohio State’s defense combined for 16.5 blocks highlighted by eightblocks (1s, 7a) from redshirt senior John Tholen. Overman totaled seven (2s, 5a), while Lutzfinished with a career-high five block assists.
Anderson totaled a match-high 16 kills, marking his 15th match thisseason with double-digit digs.
Offensively, four Buckeyes finished with double-digit kills.Sophomore Michael Henchy had 15 to lead the squad, while Lutz totaled 13.Senior Chen Levitan totaled 12 and Overman tied a season-best with 11.Setter Peter Heinen picked up 51 assists to mark his sixth match with50 or more.
