Kobelt, Metka to Play for Midwest Regional Doubles Title – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio– The Ohio State men’s tennis team continued play at the 2013 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Center. The final day of the event will take place at 8 a.m. Monday at the VTC.
A pair of Buckeyes in Peter Kobelt and Hunter Callahan opened the day with straight-set victories. Kobelt, a New Albany, Ohio, native defeated Michigan State’s Aaron Pfister 6-3, 6-3 en route to the semifinals. Callahan, who hails from Lower Gwynedd, Pa., posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over teammate Chris Diaz.
In doubles action, Kobelt and Worthington, Ohio, native Kevin Metka recorded an 8-3 win over Josh Hagar and Quentin Monaghan of Notre Dame to advance to the semifinals. The duo then went on to hand Filip Dzanko and David Vieyra of DePaul an 8-3 loss.
In the other Buckeye doubles matchup, Callahan and Diaz dropped an 8-4 decision to Filip Dzanko and David Vieyra of DePaul.
