No. 19 Ohio State in Second at Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Still in contention for the program’s 12th Big Ten title, the No. 19 Ohio State women’s golf team concluded the second round of the 2012 Big Ten Championships Saturday in second place. The Buckeyes will enter the final day of action at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind., with a 595 total after carding a 19 over par on the par-72, 6156 course.
With a 1-over 145 performance, junior Rachel Rohanna is currently tied for second in the individual competition. Firing a 1-under 71 on day two, Rohanna jumped from her sixth-place ranking after the first round into second place.
Freshman Claudia Lim follows with a 5-over 149 total to tie for 12th-place.
A pair of Buckeye juniors – Susana Benavides and Amy Meier – finished the day tied for 20th with an 8-over 152. Benavides was two strokes better than her first round performance with a 3-over 75, while Meier tallied a 6-over 78.
Also competing for the Scarlet and Gray, senior Vicky Villanueva is tied for 23rd with a 9-over 153. Freshman Jen Chanpalangsri follows in a 26th-place tie with a 10-over 154.
Michigan State leads the pack with 5-stroke lead over the Buckeyes (14-over 590). The Spartans also lead the individual competition with Lindsey Solberg carding a 1-under 143 for the tournament.
Ohio State will return to the course Sunday with the final round of play beginning at 9 a.m. (ET). Live scoring can be followed at www.golfstat.com.
