Buckeyes Second after Day One of Hurricane Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After 36 holes of play at the Hurricane Invitational, the Ohio State women’s golf team is currently in second place at 605. The Buckeyes opened the day with a team score of 308 before chipping in an improved afternoon round of 297 at the par 71, 6,017-yard Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club in Miami Fla.
Leading the 16-team field at 597 is host Miami. Campbell’s Brooke Bellomy is the top individual after a sum of 2-over 144.
Two strokes back from Bellomy in second place is junior captain Amy Meier. Opening with a 74, Meier fired a 1-over 72 in round two to break into the top 5 at 146. Throughout the day, the Rochester Hills, Mich., native carded four birdies.
Junior Susana Benavides also fired a 72 in round two after a morning round of 77. Benavides notched a birdie and an eagle in the afternoon to jump into a tie for sixth at 149.
Totaling 154 after 36 holes, freshman Claudia Lim is currently tied for 22nd. The Bella Vista, Australia, product notched scores of 79-75.
Finding four birdies throughout rounds one and two for scores of 82 and 78, respectfully, senior Vicky Villanueva is tied for 48th at 160.
Freshman Kendall Prince earned a score of 78 in round one, but her second round performance did not count toward the team score after a rule violation.
Competing as an individual, junior Rachel Rohanna is tied for 26th at 155 after rounds of 76 and 79.
The third and final round of the Hurricane Invitational will take place tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
