Ohio State vs. Oklahoma Highlights
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 2 Oklahoma, 196.825-196.700, in a dual meet on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in St. John Arena.
The Buckeyes started on vault where they posted a 49.10. Senior Alyssa Marohn led the Buckeyes with a 9.875, tying her career high and placing second overall. Freshman Sarah Grady tied for fourth overall with a 9.825, a new career high. Junior Colleen Dean, senior co-captain Nicole Krauter and sophomore Sarah Miller all tied for sixth with a 9.80. After the first rotation Ohio State trailed 49.275.-49.100
In the second rotation, the Scarlet and Gray traveled to bars to earn a 49.125. Senior co-captain Taylor Jones and Dean tied for third overall with a pair of 9.850’s. Sophomore Victoria Aepli was up next for the Buckeyes, tallying a 9.825 to tie her career high. Ohio State closed the gap after two rotations, trailing 98.275-98.225
Ohio State competed on beam in the third rotation to tally a 49.05. Miller led Ohio State with a 9.950, tying her career high and winning the event overall. Dean, Grady and Krauter all tied for fifth overall with a 9.800. After three rotations, the Buckeyes trailed 147.600-147.275.
To finish up the meet the Buckeyes competed on floor and finished with a 49.425. Miller continued on a roll on floor to take her second event win with a 9.925. Dean came in second with a 9.90. Tying for fourth overall were senior Casey Williamson and sophomore Melanie Shaffer with a pair of 9.875’s.
Colleen Dean was the lone Buckeye in the all-around competition. She scored a 39.350 to finish first.
Up next, the Buckeyes compete at the Big Ten Championships at 2 p.m. March 24 in Iowa City, Iowa.
