No. 13 Ohio State Finishes Second at Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 13 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team finished second at the Big Ten Championships with a 196.225 Saturday evening at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The second-place finish is the best for the Buckeyes since 1989.
No. 6 Nebraska won the meet with a 197.100 while No. 16 Minnesota came in third with a 195.950.
The Buckeyes began the meet on balance beam, recording a 48.725 to tie for fifth. Sarah Miller led Ohio State with a 9.850 to tie for third while Sarah Grady posted a 9.750 to tie for 15th.
Ohio State then moved to floor exercise, posting a 49.150 to tie for second with Minnesota. Miller and Melanie Shaffer led the Buckeyes, each tallying a 9.875 to tie for fourth while Colleen Dean recorded a 9.850 to tie for eighth.
In the third rotation, Ohio State competed on vault, tallying a 49.250 to finish fifth. Miller led the Buckeyes once again, posting a 9.875 to tie for 10th.
The Buckeyes concluded the competition with a 49.100 to tie for second on uneven bars. Casey Williamson tied her career-best with a 9.875 to lead the Buckeyes and tie for fourth while Dean tied for 11th with a 9.825.
Dean, the lone Buckeye in the all-around, finished ninth with a 39.225.
Ohio State competes in NCAA Regionals April 7 at a site to be determined.
