No. 13 Ohio State Posts 195.750 to Defeat Tar Heels – Ohio State Buckeyes

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 13 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team won a dual meet against North Carolina, 195.750-194.475, Saturday afternoon in Carmichael Stadium.
The Buckeyes started on bars where they posted a 48.75. The team was led by seniors Casey Williamson and Alyssa Marohn with a pair of 9.80’s. The duo won the event overall. Up next for the team was senior co-captain Taylor Jones with a 9.750 for third overall. After the first rotation, Ohio State was trailing 48.85-48.75.
In the second rotation, the Scarlet and Gray traveled to vault and posted a 49.15. Sophomore Sarah Miller placed first on the event with a 9.90. A trio of 9.825’s by senior co-captain Nicole Krauter, junior Colleen Dean and Marohn all tied for second place for the Buckeyes. After two rotations, Ohio State took the lead, 97.900-97.275.
Next up for the Buckeyes was floor exercise where the team tallied a 48.975. Jones tied for first with a 9.850. Sophomore Melanie Shaffer rang in a 9.825 to tie for third overall. Williamson rounded out the top three on the event with a 9.80. Ohio State extended its lead in the third rotation, leading 146.875-145.925.
In the final event of the meet, Ohio State posted a 48.875 on beam. Miller took her second event title of the night, tying for first with a 9.875. Marohn came in third overall with a 9.80.
Dean, the only Buckeye competing in the all-around, totaled a 38.975.
Up next, Ohio State hosts Oklahoma on Senior Day at 4 p.m. March 17 in St. John Arena.
