No. 11 Ohio State Posts 195.575 at No. 19 Illinois – Ohio State Buckeyes

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 11 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 19 Illinois, 195.700-195.575, Saturday in front of a crowd of 1,321 people at Huff Hall in Champaign.
The Buckeyes started the night on bars where they posted a 48.825. They were led by senior captain Taylor Jones who had a new season-high 9.800 which was good for fourth place. Senior Casey Williamson was next on the team with a 9.775 to tie for fifth overall. Junior Colleen Dean, sophomore Alex DeLuca and senior Alyssa Marohn rounded out the team score, all with a 9.500.
In the second rotation, the team moved to vault where they scored a 49.075 which topped Illinois’ 48.925. Leading the way was sophomore Sarah Miller as she tied her career high with a 9.925 to take first overall. Krauter and Dean came in third and fourth with a 9.825 and a 9.800, respectively.
The Scarlet and Gray posted a 49.050 on beam to top the Illini. Dean and Marohn led the way, each posting a 9.850 to tie for first overall. It was a new season high for Dean and a career high for Marohn.
Illinois topped the Buckeyes on floor exercise, 48.975-48.625. Dean and Jones were first for the Buckeyes with a pair of 9.775s to tie for fifth.
Dean tied for first in the all-around for a 39.175. The other Buckeye to compete in the all-around, Marohn scored a 38.950 to come in fourth.
Up next, Ohio State takes on Iowa at 7 p.m. Friday in St. John Arena.
