Ohio State Runs Past Iowa, 4-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Ohio State women’s soccer team topped Iowa, 4-1, Friday evening in Iowa City. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 9-4-1, 4-2-1 in the Big Ten while the Hawkeyes fall to 11-2-3, 2-2-3 in conference play.
The Buckeyes took the lead in the 27th minute when Aly Walker scored her first goal of the season, a shot into the upper right corner off an assist from Ashley Gruenbaum.
The senior co-captain then doubled the Buckeyes’ lead less than four minutes later on a free kick from 25 yards out as Ohio State took a 2-0 lead into the break.
For the half, both teams tallied nine shots and two on goal.
Ohio State then pushed its lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute when Kristen Niederhaus finished off the crossbar from inside the box off assists from Samantha Lewis and Danica Wu.
After Tiffany Cameron drilled the crossbar less than a minute later, Dana Dalrymple got the Hawkeyes on the board with a far post strike from the right wing, cutting the Ohio State advantage to 3-1.
Cameron then iced it in the 87th minute, tallying her team-high 11th goal of the season on a breakaway from 12 yards to cap the score at 4-1.
For the game, Ohio State held a 22-15 advantage in shots. Both teams put eight on frame.
Up next, Ohio State travels to Nebraska for a 1 p.m. ET matchup Sunday.
