No. 11 Ohio State Wins on the Road at Pittsburgh – Ohio State Buckeyes

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The No. 11 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team defeated Pittsburgh 195.625-193.500 Friday night in Fitzgerald Field House in front of a crowd of 1,012 people.
The Buckeyes began the night on bars where the team claimed the top four spots. Senior Casey Williamson recorded a team-high 9.825. Following close behind were freshman Alyssa Marohn and sophomore Alex DeLuca with scores of 9.800 and 9.775, respectively. DeLuca’s score was a new season high. The team earned a 48.800 on the event to top Pitt’s 47.575.
Senior co-captain Nicole Krauter and sophomore Sarah Miller led the way on vault with a pair of 9.875s to tie for first. Sophomore Melanie Shaffer and junior Colleen Dean tied for third with a pair of 9.850s. Dean and Krauter both set new career highs while Shaffer set a new season high. The Scarlet and Gray won vault with a new season-high 49.250-48.575.
Ohio State headed to floor exercise in the third rotation. Dean took the lead with a 9.800 to claim second place. Shaffer, DeLuca and senior co-captain Taylor Jones tied for fourth with a 9.750. Pittsburgh claimed its first event of the night, winning floor 48.825-48.675.
Miller finished the night winning beam with a season high of 9.875. Marohn set a new career high and Krauter followed for the Buckeyes placing third (9.825) and fourth (9.800), respectively. Ohio State finished the night with a new season high and won beam 48.900-48.525.
Dean, the only Buckeye to compete in the all-around, placed first with a 38.825.
The Buckeyes return to action with a dual meet at Illinois at 4 p.m. Feb. 4. The meet will be televised live on Big Ten Network.
