COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team took some time out of the pool this past weekend to participate in Steps for Sarcoma, an annual event raising money and awareness for this rare bone cancer. Nineteen Buckeyes walked along side former teammate Meghan Kinney, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma last October. Kinney lettered for the synchronized swimming team during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Steps for Sarcoma takes place annually in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Participants can choose to walk one mile or participate in the 5K race with the proceeds benefiting the Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Additionally, funds are donated to the Orthopaedic Sarcoma Cancer Research Fund at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital where Kinney was treated.
