Summer Flashback: Stieber Has Impressive Outing at Junior World Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Logan Stieber, who will be a redshirt-freshman this fall, competed with the top international junior wrestlers at the end of July at the 2011 FILA Junior World Championships in Bucharest, Romania. Stieber proved his status as one of the best after finishing second in the 60kg/132-pound division.
Posting a 4-0 record en route to reaching the final, the Monroeville, Ohio, native dropped a 1-1, 4-6 decision to Toghrul Asgarov of Azerbaijan.

Stieber opened the prestigious event with a 7-1, 0-1, 1-0 win vs. Kazakhstan’s Sayatbek Okassov. He then demonstrated an outstanding outing against Antranik Ovsepian (Greece). After shutting out Ovsepian, 7-0, in the best of three series, Stieber promptly pinned Ovsepian in 55 seconds to move on in the bracket.
In the quarterfinal round, Stieber secured a 7-0, 4-2 victory vs. Maxim Perpelita of Moldova before handing Stefan Ivanov (Bulgaria) a 5-0, 7-1 loss in the semifinals.
