The No. 4-ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team closes the first half of its schedule with a CCHA home-and-home series against Miami (Ohio). The Buckeyes (12-3-1, 9-2-1-1 CCHA) and RedHawks (8-8-2, 4-6-2-1 CCHA) face off at 7:05 p.m. Friday in Value City Arena and follow with a 7:05 p.m. Saturday game in Steve Cady Arena in Oxford.
Ohio State enters the weekend on a nine-game winning streak and 11-game unbeaten streak. The squad, 9-2-1-1 in conference play (29 points), is in first place in the CCHA. The Buckeyes, under second-year head coach Mark Osiecki, are sixth nationally in team defense, holding opponents to 1.94 goals a game, while scoring 3.31 an outing to rank 16th in the NCAA. The power play is 11th nationally, with 18 goals on 76 chances (23.7 percent) and the penalty kill is ranked eighth, allowing nine goals on 74 chances (87.8 percent).
Sophomore Chris Crane leads the team in scoring with 17 points on nine goals and eight assists. Senior Danny Dries has a team-high 10 goals and is tied with freshman Ryan Dzingel for second with 15 points each. Senior goaltender Cal Heeter, the reigning CCHA Goalie of the Week, is 11-1-1 on the year and has a 1.89 goals-against average with a .932 save percentage.

The game, scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Jan. 15, will be played outside at Progressive Field, home of the MLB Cleveland Indians.
