Postgame Quotes
Mark Osiecki, Ohio State head coach
On tonight’s game and Ohio State’s attitude coming off of finals
“We felt it going into the week. We were begging and searching, but we were playing a team really well coached and in my opinion a Top 10 team. Our preparation was tough and we tried to battle through it but it really showed tonight.”
On unpredictable bounces
“It’s what Miami did. They skated well and it dictated a lot of things. The puck was bouncing all over the place, and Miami did a great job moving their feet and creating those bounces.”
On penalties
“A lot of them were not very bright on our part. I don’t think it was a lack of discipline, I think a lot of time we were chasing them. In the third period, we had a couple of shifts where we were gaining momentum, but we couldn’t hold it throughout the media timeout.”
Cory Schneider, Ohio State senior forward
On the game tonight “I think we felt like we were in it score-wise, but we never got an edge. It’s things we can control as far as our work ethic we can improve on moving forward.”
On the team’s attitude prior to the game and moving forward after the loss
“We were pretty high on ourselves. Losing presents a new challenge and we have to see it as a new opportunity. We didn’t have that first punch tonight and when we don’t have that we’re not playing to our potential.”
Enrico Blasi, Miami head coach
On the game
“We knew we were going to be facing a great Ohio State team, so I kept telling our guys it was going to be a battle. We played smart hockey and got lucky with a few of the bounces – that’s the way the game goes sometimes. Overall, I thought it was a great college hockey game.”
On the challenges the RedHawks have faced this season
“We’re a hardworking team — that’s the standard we’ve set here. We haven’t lacked for effort this year but we have played undisciplined and below our skill level at times. Tonight was a step in the right direction.”
