Buckeyes Begin Preseason Sunday – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Head coach Rustam Sharipov and the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team begin preseason competition with the team’s annual Scarlet and Gray exhibition at 2 p.m. Sunday at Steelwood Athletic Training Facility.
The Buckeyes, ranked seventh in the College Gymnastics Association preseason coaches’ poll, will look to turn in another award-winning year with returning NCAA All-Americans Ty Echard, Kris Done and Jeff Treleaven in the gym.
“The objective for this intrasquad is to hit 75 percent and higher of the routines for each team,” Sharipov said. “It will be a good assessment to see where the team’s progress stands a month before the start of the regular season.”
The Scarlet and Gray will be divided into two teams as OSU captains Ty Echard and Blaize Monks will select the squads.
At the exhibition, the Buckeyes will have a full lineup compete on all six Olympic events in front of judges and fans to simulate the environment at regular-season competitions. The Top three scores from each team will count toward each event. Individually, the four highest scores from either team on each event also will count.
The Buckeyes will then continue their preseason schedule next month with their annual alumni exhibition Jan. 8 at Steelwood Athletic Training Facility.
