Athlete of the Week
Ohio State women’s soccer junior forward Tiffany Cameron tallied two goals in the Buckeyes’ 3-0 victoryat Tennessee in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Nov. 12.The first goal marked Cameron’s fifth game-winner of the season asshe tallied her third and fourth goals in the seventh NCAATournament contest of her career.
Baseball

Ohio State has signed eight recruits for the 2013 season, headcoach Greg Beals announced Nov. 9. The class features five playersfrom Ohio, two from Indiana and one from Wisconsin. The Buckeyeswelcome Jacob Bosiokovic, Logan Bowles, Troy Kuhn, Luke McGee,Craig Nennig, Jacob Post, Zach Ratliff and Joey Stoll.
No. 3/3 Men’s Basketball (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten)

WilliamBuford, Aaron Craft and Jared Sullinger are among the list of 50 men’s basketballplayers named to the Naismith Preseason Top 50 announced Nov. 7 bythe Atlanta Tipoff Club. This year’s list includes the top men’scollege basketball players from 34 schools around thecountry.
Preseason All-America Sullinger had 19 points and nine rebounds tolead No. 3/3 Ohio State to a 73-42 victory over Wright State Nov.11 in the Global Sports Shootout. Buford had nine of his 13 pointsto lead a second-half charge for the Buckeyes. Point guard Crafthad 10 points and just one turnover in 28 minutes in theopener.
Women’s Basketball (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten)

SamanthaPrahalis and Tayler Hill paced the Buckeyes with 17 points apiece to leadthe Buckeyes to a 78-51 season-opening win over the Tennessee StateLady Tigers Nov. 13 at Value City Arena.
No. 15 Field Hockey (12-9, 4-2 Big Ten)

JennSciulli, a tri-captain, and Paula Pastor-Pitarque a second team All-Big Ten selection, werenamed to the 2011 All-Big Ten Tournament Team, the conferenceoffice announced Nov. 6.
Ohio State received an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Tournamentwhen the field of 16 was announced Nov. 8. The 2011 NCAA berthmarked the first time in program history the Buckeyes have made theNCAA Tournament in three-consecutive seasons.
The Buckeyes traveled to No. 2 seed Old Dominion (21-2) for anopening round NCAA game Nov. 12 in Norfolk, Va., where they fell5-0 to the Lady Monarchs. The Buckeyes conclude the 2011 campaignwith a 12-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Big Ten play.
Football (6-4, 3-3 Big Ten)

Ohio State junior punter Ben Buchanan has been named a finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy,which is presented by the All Sports Association of Fort WaltonBeach, Fla. The award is presented to the college football playerwho best combines exemplary community service with athletic andacademic achievement.
The Buckeyes fell 26-23 to Purdue (5-5, 3-3) in overtime Nov. 12.Junior running back Jordan Hall hauled in a career-long 38-yard pass for a TD inthe first quarter. He then caught a second TD pass with 13 secondsleft in regulation. He finished with three catches for 58 yards andtwo TDs. Freshman quarterback Braxton Miller tied his career high with two TD passes in thegame. He accounted for three scores on the day with a 6-yard TD runin the third quarter.
Men’s Ice Hockey (8-3-1, 5-2-1-1 CCHA)

Ohio State posted its second-consecutive 4-1 victory over No.14/15 Northern Michigan to record a two-game sweep of the Wildcats(4-5-3, 1-4-3-2 CCHA) and extend its unbeaten streak to seven. TheBuckeyes tie for first place in the CCHA with Lake Superior andNotre Dame.
In Game Two of the series, sophomore defenseman Curtis Gedig posted his first career goal.
Women’s Ice Hockey (5-4-1, 5-4-1-1 WCHA)
Head coach: Nate Handrahan
Ohio State senior forward Natalie Spooner and junior forward Minttu Tuominen, along with former Buckeye Lisa Chesson, willrepresent their respective countries at the 2011 Four Nations Cupin Nyköping, Sweden, Nov. 9-14. Spooner is skating withTeam Canada, Tuominen with Team Finland and Chesson with Team USA.The Four Nations Cup brings together the top four women’s hockeycountries in the world – Canada, Finland, Sweden and the UnitedStates – for the international tournament.
Men’s Soccer (10-7-2, 4-2-0 Big Ten)

Second-seeded Ohio State’s quest for a fourth Big TenTournament title ended in the quarterfinal round to No. 7 seed PennState, 2-0, Nov. 9 at U-M Soccer Complex in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Chris Hegngi and David Tiemstra led the list of eight Ohio State men’s socceraward winners at the Big Ten Tournament banquet Nov. 10, earningthe conference’s offensive and defensive, respectively, player ofthe year awards. Hegngi earns recognition as the conference’s topoffensive player after racking up 18 points on nine goals in 18matches this season.
Both Hegngi and Tiemstra also earned a spot on the All-Big TenFirst Team, while Parnell Hegngi, Austin McAnena and Matt Lampson each garnered second-team accolades. A pair ofrookies – Kenny Cunningham and Brady Wahl – was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team aftersuccessful first seasons. Finally, Sage Gardner was awarded the Buckeye recipient of theSportsmanship Award, given to a student-athlete from each team whohas distinguished himself through sportsmanship and ethicalbehavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academicstanding and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of thesports-competition setting.
Ohio State now awaits its fate in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAASelection Show is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Nov. 14 onNCAA.com.

Two Ohio State seniors, goalkeeper Katie Baumgardner and defender Liz Sullivan, were selected to the Capital One/CoSIDA academicall-district teams for District 5 Nov. 7.
Ohio State defeated No. 23 Tennessee 3-0 in the opening round ofthe NCAA tournament Nov. 12 at Regal Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.With the win, Ohio State (11-8-2) advances to face the IllinoisSt./Milwaukee winner Friday in Durham, N.C. For the game, OhioState held a 20-10 advantage in shots, including 9-3 on goal.Goalkeeper Baumgardner made three saves to pick up her seventhshutout of the season and fourth shutout in six NCAA tournamentcontests.
No. 11 Men’s Swimming & Diving
Head coaches: Bill Wadley & Vince Panzano
Ohio State posted the fastest time in every swimming event enroute to a 149-122 victory at Miami University Nov. 11.
The Buckeyes had 10 different swimmers post the fastest time in anindividual event. Alex Miller continued his dominance of the distance races,winning the 1000 free in 9:21.29, and swimming the fastest race inthe 500 free (4:35.82). Zach Holmes was the fastest in the 100 free (46.33) and 200free (1:40.82).
In the diving competition, Christian Holstein placed second in the 3-meter competitionwith a score of 371.40 and Shane Miszkiel was second in the 1-meter diving (333.30).
The Buckeyes are 5-0 in dual meets this season, and they next faceIowa Nov. 18. They are home again Dec. 2-4 hosting the OSUInvite.
No. 13 Women’s Swimming & Diving
Head coaches: Bill Dorenkott & Vince Panzano
Ohio State won a spirited dual meet with Ohio 203-97 Nov. 12 atMcCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Seven different Buckeyes won at leastone individual race. Duplicate winners were Shannon Draves, winning the 500 free (5:01.28), 1000 free(10:16.50) and 200 butterfly (2:03.46); Kelly Ann Baird, posting top times in the 200 free (1:52.12)and 200 backstroke (2:03.33).
Ohio State swept the 3-meter diving. Bianca Alvarez placed first (400.80), followed by Cheyenne Cousineau (294.90) and Kristin Asman (278.40). In the1-meter competition, Cousineau was first with a score of 315.45 andAsman finished second with 301.05.
Men’s Tennis
Head coach: Ty Tucker
ChaseBuchanan and Blaz Rola earned Co-Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors theconference announced Nov. 9. It is the second time this season theBuckeye duo has shared the conference honor. They also split theaward Oct. 12. The award is Buchanan’s 12th and Rola’s fourth oftheir careers.
Women’s Tennis

Ohio State completed its fall schedule Nov. 6 as the teamplayed its final matches at the Arizona State ThunderbirdInvitational. The Buckeye duo of Kelsey Haviland and Kara Cecil took its match against Arizona State’s LeighannSahagun and Sianna Simmons, 9-7. Fidan Manashirova and Gabby Steele followed suit for the Buckeyes, taking an 8-2decision against Anastasia Putilina and Callie Craig of Utah. Inauxiliary matches, Manashirova picked up a win against California’sStephanie Chang, 6-0, 6-2. Haviland found herself on the short endof a 7-5, 6-0 decision against Michigan’s Kristin Dodge, whileKelsey Becker fell to ASU’s Joanna Smith, 6-0, 6-2. Steeledropped her second-round consolation match to Karla Bonacic ofKansas State, 6-2, 6-1. Ohio State finished the tournament with sixsingles victories and four doubles wins.
No. 22 Women’s Volleyball (17-12, 7-9 Big Ten)
Head coach: Geoff Carlston
The 22nd-ranked Buckeyes lost a 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-22,25-27, 15-13) decision at Northwestern (15-11, 6-9) Nov. 11 inWelsh-Ryan Arena. Ohio State was also defeated 3-1 (25-18, 24-26,26-24, 25-17) by No. 7 Illinois Nov. 12.

LoganStieber was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, the conferenceannounced Nov. 8.
Nick Heflin, a 174-pound redshirt sophomore, has been selectedto compete in the 46th Annual NWCA All-Star Classic Presented bythe Marines, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announcedNov. 10.
The 13th-ranked Buckeyes began the 2011-12 season 3-0 Nov. 12 aftercompleting action at the Second Annual Wrestle for a Cure Duals inHarrisburg, Pa. In a span of six hours, the Buckeyes defeated UtahValley (36-0), Old Dominion (30-3) and North Carolina (36-6) at thePennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.
