Buckeyes in Third with 18 Holes Left at the Windy City Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Firing rounds of 296 and 300 for a 596 total, the Ohio State women’s golf team concluded day one of the Windy City Invitational in third. Competing on the par 72, 6,333-yard Glen View Club in Chicago, Ill., the Buckeyes are one stroke back from second-place Arizona.
Tied for 11th at 147, juniors Amy Meier and Susana Benavides currently lead the Buckeyes. Meier carded scores of 74-73, while Benavides notched the reverse with rounds of 73-74. Throughout the day, Benavides fired the second-most birdies in the field with nine.
In the second outing of her collegiate career, freshman Kendall Prince is tied for 20th. The Lake Oswego, Ore., native earned seven birdies throughout her rounds of 73 and 76.
Rounding out the lineup are senior Vicky Villanueva and junior Rachel Rohanna who are tied for 38th at 153 after identical rounds of 76 and 77. Villanueva’s day was highlighted by an eagle on the par 4 No. 9 hole in round one.
Competing as an individual, freshman Jan Chanpalangsri is tied for 34th after scores of 74 and 78.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will conclude tomorrow with a 7:30 a.m. start.
