Athletes of the Week
After being named one of 23 players selected to represent TeamCanada at the 2011 Four Nations Cup, senior forward Natalie Spooner scored all four Ohio State goals in a 4-4season-opening tie against Bemidji State Oct. 7. Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola were crowned the 2011 D’Novo/ITA All-American doubleschampions Oct. 9 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa,Okla. The Buckeye duo concluded the prestigious event with a 6-3,6-7(5), 6-4 win over Georgia Tech’s Kevin King and Juan Spir in thefinal. It is the first All-American doubles title for the Buckeyessince Scott Green and Ross Wilson captured the title in 2004.

With two second half goals, the 18th-ranked Buckeyes downed No.20 Louisville, 2-1, Oct. 4 at Buckeye Varsity Field. The win markedOhio State’s sixth consecutive victory.
Ohio State fell to big ten foe No. 17 Iowa, 3-0, Oct. 8 in the homefinale at Buckeye Varsity Field. The buckeyes honored seniortri-captains Jenn Sciulli and Ally Tunitis before the matchup.
Football (3-3, 0-2 Big Ten)

Taylor Martinez ran for a touchdown and passed for two otherswhile bringing No. 14 Nebraska back from a 21-point second-halfdeficit, and the Cornhuskers defeated Ohio State 34-27 Oct. 8 inthe first Big Ten game at Memorial Stadium.
Women’s Golf

Ohio State concluded the Windy City Invitational at the GlenView Club in Chicago, Ill. in third after an even final round of288. The Buckeyes finished two strokes out of first and placedbetter than seven Top 50 squads, including No. 1 Texas.
Men’s Ice Hockey (1-1)

Seniors Sean Duddy and Cory Schneider were selected as team captains for the 2011-12edition of the Ohio State men’s hockey team.
The Buckeyes won their season opener Oct. 7 in Value City Arena,downing Quinnipiac, 2-1.
Ohio State posted its first loss on the season falling, 4-3, in asecond match-p with Quinnipiac Oct. 8 in Value City Arena. TheScarlet and Gray battled back despite being down 4-0 after thefirst period, outscoring the Bobcats 3-0 in the final 40minutes,

Sophomore Ally Tarr tallied her first career hat trick to lead Ohio Stateto a 5-3 win over Bemidji State Oct. 8 at the OSU Ice Rink.

Freshman Brady Wahl scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute asthe Buckeyes defeated Bowling Green, 1-0, in overtime Oct. 5 atJesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Despite a late comeback effort, Ohio State fell to Northwestern,3-2, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Oct. 9.
