Buckeyes Rank Second in Directors’ Cup Standings – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State maintained its second-place position in the 2009-10 Learfield Directors’ Cup standings with seven spring NCAA championships already complete. With 1000.50 points, Ohio State trails only Stanford as Virginia, Duke and North Carolina round out the top five.
The Buckeyes finished third in men’s volleyball, fifth in men’s tennis, 17th in women’s tennis and 34th in women’s golf for a spring total of 187 points.
Ohio State leads a group of five Big Ten Conference programs ranked in the Top 25, including Penn State (8th), Minnesota (10th), Wisconsin (15th) and Michigan (21st).
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 14 sports — seven women’s and seven men’s.
The next Division I spring standings will be released Wednesday, June 23.
