Ohio State Selected to Host NCAA Regional Friday-Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – After recording history in 2009 with its first NCAA Super Regional appearance, the Ohio State softball team returned in 2010 with one goal: to make it to Oklahoma City. The 19th-ranked Buckeyes have surpassed one hurdle, earning an at-large bid to the national tournament and will host one of 16 NCAA regional tournaments Friday-Sunday in Columbus. – MORE –

Nichols Named Freshman of the Year, Six Buckeyes Earn All-Big Ten Honors COLUMBUS, Ohio – After earning 10 victories and throwing eight complete games in conference play for the NCAA championship bound Ohio State softball team, freshman pitcher Melanie Nichols has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday evening. She becomes the first Buckeye to earn the distinction since Wendy Allen did so in 2001. She is the only freshman to earn First Team All-Big Ten honors this season. – MORE –
Buckeyes Host Minnesota With Big Ten Tournament Hopes on the Line COLUMBUS, Ohio – One team could leave this field an outright Big Ten champion. Two teams could finish tied for a Big Ten title. Scholar-Athletes Honored at 2010 Awards Dinner COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Department of Athletics held the 43rd-annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner Recognizing Academic Excellence Wednesday in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom at the Ohio Union to honor its student-athletes for their academic and athletic accomplishments. A record 503 OSU Scholar-Athletes were recognized at the event and a number of senior awards were given out. – MORE –
