COLUMBUS, Ohio Lou Rosselli, associate head coach of the Ohio State wrestling team, will be introduced as one of 10 members inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame Wednesday the organization announced. The 2009 class will be officially enshrined in October on a date to be announced at HSBC Arena in Buffalo.
“I am pleased and honored to be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Hall of Fame,” Rosselli said. “To be placed in a category with many great athletes who have accomplished so much is incredible.”
Rosselli is now a member of three sports halls of fame. He also was inducted into the Edinboro Athletics and Eastern Wrestling League Halls of Fame in 2004 and 2003, respectively. Rosselli, a 1993 graduate of Edinboro, was honored by the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association with the Young Alumni Award in 2008.
The Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have enhanced the lives of those residing in the Western New York area through their sports performances and commitment to positive impressions.
Joining Rosselli in the class are Buffalo, N.Y., natives Jim Dombrowski (football), Cliff Robinson (basketball) and former Buffalo Sabre goalie Roger Crozier. Rosselli, the 2009 NWCA Assistant Coach of the Year, wrapped up his third season with the Buckeyes in March. Along with head coach Tom Ryan and assistant coach Joe Heskett, Rosselli and the Buckeyes were runners-up at the NCAA championships in St. Louis, Mo., for the second consecutive year. The two second-place finishes in 2009 and 2008 followed a 10th-place finish at nationals during all three coaches’ inaugural seasons at Ohio State in 2006-07.
