MBK (7/6): With a 2-0 record in Group H at the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, Evan Turner and Team USA begin second round play at 8 p.m. Monday vs. Greece. Host Serbia is up next at 8 p.m. Tuesday for the United States.
WBK (7/5): Jantel Lavender and the USA Women’s World University Games Team improved to 4-0 with a 75-67 win over Poland. More at www.USABasketball.com.
FB (7/5): Storm Klein had an interception in Team USA’s 41-3 gold medal game win over Canada in the Junior World Championships final in Canton, Ohio. Fellow Buckeye Jack Mewhort helped the Americans roll up 408 total yards. More at www.USAFootball.com.
MGLF (7/2): Soph. Bo Hoag has been selected to play in the 2009 Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational July 30-Aug. 2 at OSU Scarlet Course. He’ll be joined by former Buckeye Vaughn Snyder, who recently played in the U.S. Open.
FB (7/1): Buckeyes Storm Klein & Jack Mewhort are back in action with Team USA tonight vs. Mexico in Canton, Ohio. Watch live at 7 p.m.
MTEN (6/30): Seems like old times. Outgoing senior Bryan Koniecko and freshman Chase Buchanan will pair up this week in the USA F15 – Linda Bogdan Memorial Futures Tournament in Rochester, N.Y. Koniecko also will compete in the singles bracket.
ATH (6/30): Gene Smith, now in his 5th year as athletics director at Ohio State, will chair the 2010-11 NCAA Men’s Basketball Committee. He has been a part of the committee the last three years.
MBK (6/28): The round-robin Serbia International Invitational concludes for Evan Turner and Team USA with a game vs. Russia at 12:30 ET Monday. The World University Games begin Friday for the U.S. vs. Finland (2 p.m. ET).
MBK (6/27): Evan Turner scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds off the bench in 11 minutes during his first taste of international competition Saturday in Serbia. Team USA defeated Canada 85-81 at the 2009 World University Games.
MBK (6/25): B.J. Mullens, the 24th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks, was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the rights to the No. 25 pick, Rodrique Beaubois, a point guard, from France.
MBK (6/25): Ohio State freshman center B.J. Mullens was selected with the 24th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. A trade could happen. Stay tuned. Mullens is the 5th Buckeye freshman to go in Round 1 in the last 3 years.
WLAX (6/25): Former Buckeye Regina Oliver and the U.S. team will play in the Gold Medal match of the World Cup Saturday at 9 p.m. Watch a video stream at www.videosport.cz.

WHKY (6/23): Congrats to Natalie Spooner who helped Team Canada off the ice and to the gold medal at the 2009 Ball Hockey World Championships in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
FB (6/23): After the spring quarter, the Buckeyes’ team GPA is 2.95, with 56 players having a 3.0 or higher during the past grading period
MSWM&DIV (6/22): Ohio State and the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion will play host to the 2010 Big Ten Conference and NCAA men’s swimming and diving championships Feb. 25-27 and March 25-27, respectively.
WLAX (6/18): Women’s World Cup play begins today in Prague, with OSU alum Regina Oliver part of Team USA. The Americans play England at 5:30 ET. Watch live video here.

FB (6/17): New video just posted with Jim Tressel’s reflections on his visit with U.S. troops. The 1:55 mark is a great clip of coach offering an “enthusiastic congrats” to one of the troops after a diving catch in flag football.

MTRK (6/13): Freshman Thomas Murdaugh finished 7th in the 400m dash and senior Jeff See finished 8th in the 1500m run Saturday at the NCAA Championships to claim All-America honors.
FB (6/10): Former Buckeye QB and ESPN commentator Kirk Herbstreit has been named to the selection board for the Wuerffel Trophy, presented to a college football player with an outstanding record of community service. OSU’s Joel Penton was the 2006 winner.
MBK (6/9): Thad Matta sat down with ESPN Outside the Lines recently to discuss working with student-athletes with professional potential. The show will air the morning of June 21, a week before the NBA Draft.

MTEN (5/24): Steven Moneke will play for an individual NCAA title Monday when he takes on Ole Miss’ Devin Britton at noon ET. The entire NCAA championships is 12 days long; Moneke will have competed in 10 of those 12 days, including nine-consecutive days of hardcourt tennis.

BASE (5/14): Alex Wimmers and Dan Burkhart’s excellent adventures together as pitcher/catcher – they’ve been a battery since the age of nine – reached a new peak today: Wimmers was named a semifinalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award and Burkhart was named a semifinalist for the Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award.

MBK (4/28): Thad Matta announced the hiring of Jeff Boals to fill vacant assistant coach position today. Boals comes from University of Akron, where he was associate head coach last year.
WTRK (4/27): Freshman Maggie Mullen broke the school record in the Javelin with a toss of 46.64m at the Drake Relays.
