J.J. Sullinger, a 2006 graduate of Ohio State University and a letterwinner with men’s basketball from 2004-06, will share his thoughts on the 2009-10 Buckeyes during the Presbyterian game Wednesday (7 p.m.). Follow Sullinger’s blog at OhioStateBuckeyes.com. Sullinger scored 935 career points and grabbed 535 career rebounds in 94 Ohio State games, 86 as a starter.
6:50: Hello Buckeye fans. Ohio State is back on its home court. It’s very important to for the team to get off to a good start after the loss against Butler last Saturday. Look for Jon Diebler to get off to a quick start as the Buckeyes look to set the tempo early against Presbyterian.
6:53: It is important the Buckeyes bring their own energy into the game as most of the students are gone for winter break.
7:01: It’s gametime. Go Bucks!
7:02: If our first two posessions are any indication of what is to come tonight, this could be a long night for Presbyterian.
7:11: In the first four minutes of the game, the Buckeyes look great. Diebler is 2-of-3 from behind the arc and the team has not let Presbyterian score. An early 12-0 run for Ohio State with four out of the five starters scoring.
7:19: It doesn’t look good for Presbyterian early on. We are shooting the ball exceptionally well and playing extraordinary defense. The score is 26-5 with about ten minutes left to go in the first half.
7:35: It’s a defense’s nightmare when you have to guard a team that has four different guys who have hit shots from three-point land and it is not even halftime yet. The Buckeyes are rolling 44-14 with 3:55 left in the opening half.
7:40: It is halftime here at Value City Arena and the Buckeyes are up big, 53-21. There is not much you can say. Ohio State is taking care of buisness on its home court. They are shooting the ball tremendously well, while playing tough defense. Stay tuned for second half action.
7:53: The halftime show might have gotten more “Ohhs” and “Ahhs” then the first half combined… a young lady managed to toss about 30 bowls on her head from her foot… ALL WHILE RIDING A UNICYCLE!!!! As the Bucks re-enter the floor to play the second half, I am sure coach Matta has reminded them the score is 0-0 and they can’t afford any let ups and let Presbyterian back in the game!
8:12: The reason why Ohio State is getting so many open looks is because they are concentrating on setting good screens.
8:25: With 7:53 remaining the Buckeyes are up 72-38. Right now Matta is probably emphasizing to the team to keep playing at a high level to gain momentum for the next game.
8:34: Coach Matta has got to be pleased with how his team kept sustained with the gameplan through out the second half after claiming such a big lead to start the game. It shows the discipine and dedication for the Buckeyes.
8:45: Gametime!!! Good game for the good guys! Final score 78-48. It was great to see everyone contributed to help achieve the victory! Be sure to tune in this Saturday as the Buckeyes host Delaware State at 4 p.m. ET. I’d like to give a special shout to my dear friend David Legge – I know you are still cheering on the Buckeyes! Miss ya man!!! Talk to everyone Saturday!
