Maxi Meissner, 2008 Varsity “O” Hall of Fame Inductee Recognized at Halftime of Ohio State vs. Ohio Football Game – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Maxi Meissner, a four-time letterwinner for the Ohio State rowing team, was officially inducted into the 2008 Varsity “O” Hall of Fame last Friday before being recognized at midfield during halftime of the Ohio at Ohio State football game Saturday in Ohio Stadium.
Meissner was one of six women inductees, which included Carolina and Isabela Moraes (synchronized swimming), Amy Langhals (golf), Krista Keir (track and field) and Megan Mirick (lacrosse).
There also were six men inductees Bob Todd (head coach; baseball), Drew Durbin (gymnastics), Bobby Hoying (football), Johnny Edwards (baseball), Jeff Uhlenhake (football) and Fred Keller (lacrosse).
Meissner was a key part of Ohio State’s first Big Ten rowing championship team in 2002. The two-time team captain was twice a first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten rower. In 2001 and ’03, Meissner was selected to the first-team All-Central Region team. Those same years, she was named MVP of the rowing team. Meissner was a four-time Ohio State Scholar Athlete and three-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient. In 2003, she was named the most outstanding student from the Midwestern Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine.
For the second-consecutive year, a Buckeye rower was inducted into the hall of fame. In 2007, Connie Kirsch became the Scarlet and Gray’s first rowing inductee.
