COLUMBUS, Ohio Although the 2008-09 edition of the Ohio State rowing team reported to campus Sept. 15, two members Cleonice Renzetti and Zuzanna Trzcinska were unable to make the official report date. Renzetti, a sophomore this fall, and Trzcinska a senior, spent the weekend competing in the 2008 European Rowing Championships in Athens, Greece.
Rowing on the Schinias Olympic Regatta Course, Renzetti sat in the one seat and helped the Italian Women’s Eight to a fourth-place finish in the A Final with a time of 6:25.75. .25 seconds later, Trzcinska, sitting in three seat, and the Polish crew pulled up to the finish line in 6:26.00.
Romania won the event in 6:10.22, while Great Britain (6:12.46) and Belarus (6:22.79) rounded out the Top 3.
It has been a busy summer for Renzetti and Trzcinska. In July, the duo took part in the 2008 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Brandenburg, Germany. Renzetti and the Italian Women’s Four captured the gold medal, while Trzcinska and the Polish Women’s Eight earned the event’s silver medal.
