Basketball
Michael Redd and Katie Smith helped the men’s and women’s basketball teams to undefeated records in pool play. The men play Australia in the medal round quarterfinals at 8 a.m. ET Wednesday. The women topped South Korea, 104-60, Tuesday in the medal quarterfinals.

Fencing
Jason Rogers (left) and Hanna Thompson helped lead United States fencing to team silver medals last weekend.
Thompson’s team won silver in the team foil, the first U.S. women’s medal in the sport.
The silver for Rogers’ saber team was the first for the U.S. since 1948.

Gymnastics
Raj Bhavsar, a Buckeye from 2000-03, helped U.S. men’s Gymnastics win the bronze medal August 11. He competed in four of the six scored events and contributed strong routines on vault and parallel bars.
Ohio State men’s head coach Miles Avery (left) served as an assistant for the men’s team in his fourth-consecutive Olympic Games.

Margot Shumway (below), an Ohio State rowing letterwinner in 2001-02, and the U.S. women’s quadruple scull crew finished fifth in the event final at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Sunday.

Kristi De Vries, from softball, was the starting pitcher for the Netherlands in three of their seven games.
Swimming
In men’s swimming, Ohio State sophomore Niksa Roki broke Croatian national marks in the 400 individual medley and 200 butterfly. His times also set Ohio State long course marks.
Competing for Isreal, Buckeye Itai Chammah set a personal best in the 200 backstroke.
Former women’s swimmer Gulsah Guenec, competing for Turkey, set a national mark in the 200-meter butterfly.

Tennis
Devin Mullings, a letterwinner from 2004-07, competed for the Bahamas. Mullings dropped his first singles match and fell in doubles to the No. 2 and No. 1 seeded players in the world – Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States.
