Rowing: Former Buckeye Margot Shumway’s Q&A with Row2k – Ohio State Buckeyes

During her two seasons with the Buckeyes, Margot Shumway, a native of Westlake, Ohio, was instrumental in helping the Scarlet and Gray achieve many program firsts. In 2002, Ohio State won its first Big Ten Conference title and the season also marked the first-ever Top 3 ranking for the squad. Behind the First Varsity Eight, which became the program’s first boat to qualify for the Grand Final of the NCAA championships, the Buckeyes went on to finish fifth in the nation.
Shumway and the U.S. Olympic rowing team will seek international success with the rowing portion of the Olympics beginning Aug. 9 and the finals set for Aug. 16-17 at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park.
