Synchronized Swimming: Ohio State Finishes Third at U.S. National Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio After all five Ohio State synchronized swimming routines finished in the Top 10 Saturday in the finals of the 2008 U.S. National Championships, the Buckeyes concluded the event in third place (27 points) for the second consecutive year. The Santa Clara Aquamaids and Stanford tied for first place with 40 points in the event that took place in the Arizona Rec Center Pool in Tucson, Ariz.
Ohio State’s Scarlet team, comprised of Michelle Benzie, Jayme DeLancy, Carmen Moraes, Barbara Nesbitt, Leah Pinette, Deborah Shim, Caitlin Stewart and Michelle Theriault gave another stellar performance during the finals, earning a mark of 95.833 to finish second. The squad’s finish served as the best Ohio State event placing in the 2008 championships.
The Gray team of Julia Broadfoot, Liz Derr, Jackie Mundy, Brooke Paul, Hannah Shively, Emilie Siemer and Kendra Sollars also posted impressive marks, earning a 91.417 for sixth.
Placing in the Top 10 in the duet competition were the pairs of Stewart and Theriault, as well as Shively and Pinette, who finished sixth and seventh respectively. Stewart and Theriault concluded the championships with a score of 91.750, while Shively and Pinette earned a 91.250.
Nesbitt was the Buckeye representative in the solo finals and executed a fourth-place performance (93.083).
