Rowing: Buckeyes Gabriele Albertaviciute, Patricia Goodeman Named to CRCA All-Region Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio Gabriele Albertaviciute and Patricia Goodeman, Ohio State senior First Varsity Eight rowers, were named to the CRCA All-Central Region team the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
Albertaviciute earned first-team accolades for the second time in her career as she also earned first-team recognition in 2007. It is the first such honor for Goodeman, who garnered second-team laurels in 2008. Albertaviciute and Goodeman also are 2008 First-Team All-Big Ten honorees.
The 1V8 is coming off a first-place finish in the Petite Final of the Central/South Region Sprints May 17-18 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Buckeye boat also was second in the Grand Final of the Big Ten championships May 3 in Ann Arbor, Mich., and it was that second-place finish that helped propel the Scarlet and Gray to its ninth Top 3 placing as a team in the league championships since its inception in 2000.
Additionally, Albertaviciute was named a CRCA Scholar-Athlete. She is joined by classmates Andrea Dymalski and Simone Haubner and sophomore Sara Reardon. CRCA Scholar-Athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and at least be in their second year of eligibility.
Ohio State will make its ninth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA championships at 8 a.m. Friday on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. The event runs through Sunday.
