COLUMBUS, Ohio Holly Vargo-Brown has been named associate head coach of the Ohio State synchronized swimming team, TJ Shelton, Assistant Athletics Director-Sport Administration, announced.
“I am honored to be recognized as the associate head coach of the greatest synchronized swimming program in the country,” Vargo-Brown said. “Ohio State has been very good to me over the years and I remain grateful for continuing to be given the opportunity to give something back.”
The Toledo, Ohio, native, is beginning her 18th year with the synchronized swimming team. She has helped the Buckeyes to 12 national titles as a member of the coaching staff. She assisted the Scarlet and Gray from 1986-90 before taking a two-year leave, rejoining the program in 1993.
“Holly is committed to enhancing the opportunities for student athletes,” Shelton said. “A true role model for the young ladies, she not only competed for the Scarlet and Gray, she was a four-time scholar athlete and a part of 12 national championships at OSU. She works well with head coach (Linda) Witter. She is committed to enhancing the lives of student-athletes and assisting with the growth of the sport.”
Vargo-Brown was a four-year letter winner for Ohio State from 1981-84 and was a member of the Buckeyes’ 1982 and 1983 Collegiate National championship teams. She earned Collegiate All-America and USSSI All-America honors after her senior season.
