My Summer Favorites: Andy Saurber – Ohio State Buckeyes

Men’s gymnastics junior-to-be Andy Saurber uses his summers to get ahead in the classroom. In 2007, Saurber will return as one of the Buckeyes’ pommel horse specialists. The Hamilton, Ohio, native represented Ohio State on the apparatus at the 2006 Big Ten Championship and NCAA qualifier as a freshman and last year he registered a career high 8.55 on pommel horse against California (March 10). Here’s a quick look at his summer favorites.
Do you stay on campus in the summer? If so, what for? If not, where do you go?
I stay on campus to take classes and train for the upcoming season.
Are you working any internships or jobs this summer?
I may work some gymnastics camps if I can miss class.
What is your favorite thing about summer?
Relaxing in the sun and warm weather.

Fishing at my grandpa’s camp in Louisiana.
What is your favorite thing to do outdoors?
I like to play baseball and go boating and fishing.
What was your worst summer job?
Working at a summer camp with kids.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Mint Chocolate Chip
Favorite summer vacation spot: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Favorite thing on the grill: Steak and shrimp
Favorite piece of summer apparel (sandals, shorts, etc.): Cool sunglasses
