Buckeyes Begin Season Nov. 12 in Preseason NIT Opener – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State will open the 2007-08 men’s basketball season at 9 p.m. Nov. 12 in the opening round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off. Wisconsin-Green Bay will be the opening round opponent for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will host the opening two rounds of the event at Value City Arena, which will be celebrating 10 seasons as Ohio State’s home court.
ESPN2 will televise the game to a national audience. Columbia and Delaware State will open the Midwest Regional portion of the 16-team tournament at 6 p.m.
The winners of round one will play Nov. 13 as will the losers in consolation play. The semifinals and finals will be held Nov. 21 and 23 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The semifinals and finals will be televised by ESPN2. The consolation game will appear on ESPN.
Ohio State finished the 2006-07 season with a 35-4 overall record after winning its second-consecutive Big Ten outright regular season title (15-1). The Buckeyes also claimed the 2007 Big Ten Tournament Title.
Ohio State returns one starter from a year ago in senior Jamar Butler, a point guard from Lima, Ohio. The Buckeyes welcome back four scholarship letterwinners, add five freshmen and an eligible transfer for the 2007-08 campaign.
