Buckeyes Rev Up for Start of NCAA Championships Friday – Ohio State Buckeyes

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Ohio State rowing team hit the water early and eagerly Thursday morning for its final practice before the start of the 2007 NCAA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The championships take place Friday-Sunday on Melton Hill Lake.
After grabbing an early breakfast at the hotel, the Buckeyes arrived at the lake at 7 a.m. The team unloaded the three boats from the trailer, warmed up with some stretching and was soon on the water where they did three loops around the 2,000-meter course.
Ohio State returned to the hotel where the team ate lunch and rested in preparation for the opening day of the NCAA championships Friday. The Buckeyes concluded their preparation for the event with the championship banquet Thursday night where University of Tennessee women’s basketball head coach Pat Summit, who guided the Lady Vols to the 2007 NCAA Championship, addressed the crowd and shared some championship stories and advice.
The NCAA championships, which features the national championships for Division I, II and III, opens Friday morning with heats for all three D-I boats. The first varsity eight boats are separated into three heats 8-8:30 a.m. If the Buckeyes finish in the Top 3 of its race, they will move directly to the Saturday semifinals. Teams not in the Top 3 will race again Friday at 1 p.m. in the repechage.
The second varsity eight boats race in two heats at 9:45 and 10 a.m., and the first varsity four conclude the heat schedule with two heats at 10:45 and 11 a.m. Their repechage and semifinals will both take place Saturday.
