Synchronized Swimming Completes Day One of U.S. Collegiate National Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team completed semifinal action of the 2007 U.S. Collegiate National Championships in Norton, Mass., Thursday. The Buckeyes compiled three Top 3 finishes in the opening session of the championships, hosted by Wheaton College at Balfour Natatorium.
The figures competition will begin action Friday, beginning at 7:35 a.m. All four figures will be contested (A-D), followed by the team routine competition at 3:20 p.m. Log on to www.usasynchro.org for complete results.
Freshman Barbara Nesbitt (Riverside, Calif.) paced the Scarlet and Gray with the highest OSU finish of the semifinals, earning second in the solo event with a mark of 91.667. Erin DeMarco (Coral Springs, Fla.), whose performance was an honors routine, tallied an 85.333, which was good for eighth place.
A 91.333 scored by the tandem of Ellen Hacker (Newark, Ohio) and Caitlin Stewart (Huntington Beach, Calif.) garnered them a third-place finish in duet, while classmates Jackie Mundy (Corona, Calif.) and Brooke Paul (Columbus, Ohio) notched an 85.833 for ninth as honors participants.
The trio of Leah Pinette (Bristol, Conn.), Nesbitt and Hannah Shively (Westerville, Ohio) were third, recording a mark of 93.333. Fellow Buckeyes Hacker, Carmen Moraes (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) and Stewart finished fourth, compiling a score of 92.000.
