Defending Big Ten champions to scrimmage before Homecoming football game
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Thad Matta, head coach of the Ohio State men’s basketball team, has scheduled a public scrimmage from noon-1 p.m. Oct. 20 on the main floor of Value City Arena prior to the Ohio State Homecoming football game vs. Michigan State at 3:30 p.m. (ABC).
Value City Arena will open at 11 a.m. Admission is free. Ohio State football parking passes are required in permit lots. Day-of-game parking is available. For more information on day-of-game parking visit: http://www.tp.ohio-state.edu/Events/football.shtml
Matta’s Buckeyes are the two-time defending Big Ten regular-season champions. Ohio State was 15-1 in league play a season ago and was 18-0 at home.
After winning the regular season league title in 2007, the Buckeyes went on to win their first league postseason tournament on the way to the NCAA title game in Atlanta, the ninth Final Four Appearance in school history and the fifth appearance in the NCAA title game.
The 2007-08 regular season tips off Nov. 12 in the opening round of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Season Tip-Off. The Buckeyes play the 9 p.m. game against Wisconsin-Green Bay. Columbia and Delaware State play at 6 p.m. The winners from opening day play Nov. 13 for the chance to advance to the semifinals Nov. 21 in New York’s Madison Square Garden. The event’s title game will be played Nov. 23.
