Attendance: 18,963 (sellout) With the victory, Ohio Stateincreased its home win streak to 20 games. It is the third-longesthome win streak in program history. The second-longest is 30 games,set from 1990-92. Nine of the 20-consecutive home wins are againstBig Ten opponents. The Buckeyes improved to 16-10 all-time vs. Iowaas a ranked team. The Hawkeyes lead the overall series 72-62, butOhio State improved its record to 41-25 in games in Columbus. Iowacut the OSU lead to 54-50 at 11:04 of the second half, but a3-pointer by Daequan Cook at 10:40 sparked a 21-2 Buckeye run thatlasted until 4:41 left in the game. The game marked OSU’s seventhsellout of the season in Value City Arena. When VCA is sold out,the Buckeyes are 34-7. Ohio State is now 45-3 at home under headcoach Thad Matta, including a 43-3 mark at VCA. He is 16-3 at VCAvs. Big Ten opponents. With 29 points Saturday vs. Iowa, Greg Oden tied for thesecond-most points by a freshman in a game. Michael Redd (1998-00)also scored 29 points vs. Northwestern (2/21/98). Redd holds therecord for points in a game by a freshman with 30 vs. SouthernCalifornia (12/20/97). Oden made 12-of-13 FG attempts, including8-of-8 in the second half, Saturday for a .923 percentage to tiefor sixth all-time in a single game. His .923 shooting percentagein tied for seventh in single-game FG percentage. Mike Conley setthe OSU record freshman assists in a season Saturday, surpassingDamon Stringer (1996-97) at 125. Conley finished the game with 10for a total of 129 this season. Conley recorded 10 assists for thesecond-consecutive game. His back-to-back 10-assist games are thefirst since Curtis Wilson had 10 vs. Old Dominion (3/16/88) and vs.Cleveland State (3/22/88). Conley has dished out 10 assists a totalof four times this season. Conley had four steals to increase hisseason total to 52, just 10 away from surpassing the OSU freshmanrecord held by Michael Redd (1998) with 61. With a team-high 29points and 10 rebounds, Oden registered his fifth double-double ofthe season. Ron Lewis finished the game second in scoring with 12points. In his three meetings with the Hawkeyes, Lewis is averaging12 points per game.
