Buckeye Men’s Gymnast Searcy Added to 2006 Visa USA Championships Field – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State Senior men’s gymnast Nicholaus Searcy (Sr., Dublin, Ohio/Hocking Valley Gymnastics Center) has been added to the field for the 2006 VISA USA Championships. At the USA Gymnastics national championships qualifier July 15, Searcy just missed out on earning an automatic berth into the national meet and was the first alternate. Searcy will compete 47 other gymnasts in the event Aug.16-19 in St. Paul Minn., as they vie for national championships in both the all-around and individual events.
Searcy will join classmate Kristopher Kline (Westerville, Ohio/Hocking Valley Gymnastics Center) and former Buckeye Raj Bhavsar (2000-03) at the 2006 VISA USA Championships. Both earned spots at the national qualifier in July.
At the national qualifier Searcy competed on both vault (16th/14.80) and parallel bars (t-19th/14.15).
The senior men’s all-around and individual events at the VISA USA Championships begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. The second round of senior men’s competition will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 18.
